Wage: $21 - $28 (based on experience)
Status: Hourly, Permanent: Anticipate 30 - 40hrs weekly

POSITION SUMMARY
The Field Safety Observer is a field position that primarily performs safety checks and flight reviews of our deployed drone field teams. This is a contractually required position for some of our larger utility customers, and therefore, complete and on-time reporting is essential. The ideal candidate should have a Part 107 drone pilot license, basic safety qualifications and be able to function both independently and in a team. Other duties assigned will include moving materials such as drone parts and IT equipment between teams as well as contributing to our business marketing strategy. Therefore, we’ll also be searching for someone with an eye for photography and a willingness to fly a microdrone to capture some great shots of our crews working in the field. You'll be provided with the drone, PPE, vehicle, safety gear, and all other kit necessary for you to execute your role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conduct safety audits and flight reviews of our fielded teams,
- Promotes safety culture by engaging, influencing, developing initiatives and leading change.
- Promotes the completion of safety observations and other proactive behavior-based initiatives.
- Spends time in the field on a daily basis observing, coaching and working alongside field personnel.
- Support and be active in our health and safety committee,
- Create a weekly safety update for the company news feed,
- Ensure proper reporting to senior management on a weekly basis,
- Move company material around the state to the various teams as needed,
- Support data management of our drone-collected data. You may be called upon to transfer hard drives from a field location to a highspeed Wi-Fi location and be tasked with uploading that data,
- Comply with company and customer standard operating procedures and safety management system (SMS) requirements,
- Maintain the appropriate licensing, training, proficiency, and competency on your company-issued microdrone (likely a DJI Mini3 or 4),
- Be respectful and responsive to the needs of the public and protection of the environment,
- Ensure all equipment you’re issued or responsible for is maintained and kept secure,
- Support our marketing team by capturing amazing images and video periodically while performing your primary function,
- Document management and document creation of various company manuals and policy materials,
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
- Applicants must be 21 years of age or older
- Experience completing checklists and reports
- Strong written and verbal communication skills,
- First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, AED, training and certification strongly preferred,
- Valid and current Part 107 certificate strongly preferred,
- Must obtain Part 107 within 6 months of accepting this role.
- Valid Drivers license and clean DMV report,
- The ability to pass a background security clearance check is a strong asset,
- U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) or asylee/refugee status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3),.
- Working knowledge of photography,
- Highly computer literate with knowledge of MS 365, G-Suite, Adobe PDF, and browser-based data transfer methods such as FTP and filezilla sites,
- Experience dealing with logistical challenges when working abroad.

- Due to scheduling demands, must be able to work weekends as needed
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and traverse uneven ground and varying terrain (Frequently)
- This position is field-oriented, with 80-90% expected travel and frequent relocations.
- Required to sit, stand, and drive for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a drone controller, computer keyboard and telephone (frequently).
