About this role

The Chip Box Operator is responsible for operating a chip box or aggregate spreader during road maintenance and chip seal projects. This role helps ensure materials are spread evenly and safely to support high‑quality paving work.

Job Responsibilities

  • Safely operate the chip box or aggregate spreader
  • Perform pre‑operation equipment checks
  • Load, unload, and monitor aggregate materials
  • Spread materials evenly according to project requirements
  • Adjust equipment settings to control material application
  • Inspect work for proper coverage and quality
  • Communicate with crew members to coordinate work
  • Follow all safety rules and wear required PPE
  • Report safety concerns or equipment issues immediately
  • Perform basic maintenance and clean equipment after use
  • Keep the work area clean and organized
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Valid and Clean driving record for the past 3 years
  • Ability to work outdoors in hot and physically demanding conditions
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions
  • Able to travel and work flexible hours as required
  • Must pass drug testing / BG
  • Must be able to work under the Head of AZ Travel
