Pathlight School is the first autism-focused school in Singapore to offer the national curriculum together with life readiness skills. It caters to students on the autism spectrum with related conditions, aged 7 to 18 years, who are cognitively able to access national curriculum but require additional support such as smaller class sizes, special accommodations and teaching staff trained in autism.
The team at Autism Intervention, Training & Consultancy (AITC) provides training and consultancy services for professionals and caregivers, as well as direct intervention services for individuals on the autism spectrum.
As an Occupational Therapist, your Impact and Contribution includes:
Assessment & Report Writing
- Participate in team assessment for school admissions
- Assist in conducting Occupational Therapy (OT) related assessments and write reports for intervention planning
- Support OT related assessments and write reports for Access Arrangements for National Exams
Intervention
- Plan and deliver programmes for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) in a range of areas, including motor co-ordination skills (eg. Handwriting, aspects of PE, Vocational Skills) and regulation
- Redesign task to increase productivity through accommodation and skill development
- Participate in collaborative consultation with key stakeholders
- Make necessary referrals to external and alternative services where necessary
Programme Development & Training
- Participate in curriculum / programme development projects
- Support the team in developing school wide strategies and programmes on areas related to sensory issues, and functional and motor co-ordination skills
- Conduct training for stakeholders (eg. Therapists, Educators, Caregivers, Vendors and volunteers) to increase knowledge and skills in supporting students with Autism.
- Full registration with the Allied Health Professional Council (AHPC)*
- Experience and skills in assessment and intervention on sensory issues
- Desire to learn about autism and the passion to serve the autism community
- Flexibility and adaptability to changes and different perspectives
- Ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast paced work environment
