About this role

Who we are:

At Family Relief Resources (FRR), our mission is to provide families and clients with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities with the quality, person-centered daily care they need. We provide qualified DSPs who have a passion and drive to help these individuals, with a positive, stable, and highly compensated work opportunity. We recognize this is a special gift and we are dedicated to helping every DSP to find the client they are meant to help.

1A0022G
Location: North Tabor neighborhood of Portland, 97213

Schedule: 2-3 days a week from about 2-7pm, Possible hours on a weekend. Thursday and Friday are preferred but other days are available.

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support a vibrant 10-year-old girl with complex medical and behavioral needs. She enjoys engaging in activities based on the weather, spending time outdoors, and connecting with others in safe, meaningful ways. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, flexible, and experienced in providing trauma-informed care to children with high support needs.

The client is currently experiencing health challenges, including teething, which contribute to increased sensitivity, clinginess, and oral sensory behaviors such as biting and chewing on blankets or towels. She may also display aggressive behaviors such as biting or scratching and throwing/breaking things so experience with behavior management and de-escalation techniques is essential.

Responsibilities:

Assist with daily routines including:
G-tube feeding and medication administration
Brushing teeth and hygiene support
Bedtime routines
Support with transitions, transferring, and positioning
Provide behavior support and coping strategies for biting/scratching/pinching/throwing things
Assist with mobility challenges

Preferred Qualifications:

Training in behavior management or trauma-informed care
Experience with g-tube feeding and medication administration
Familiarity with supporting families where a parent may have ADHD or Autism
