About this role
The role:
The Systems & Cloud Engineer supports the administration, security, operational reliability, and continuous improvement of Conduit Re’s cloud and infrastructure environment. The role reports to the Head of IT and works alongside a Senior Systems & Cloud Engineer, supporting Conduit Re’s Bermuda head office.
The role works across Azure, Microsoft 365, identity and access management, infrastructure monitoring, operational resilience, and technical project delivery activities, while also supporting the ongoing stability and scalability of the organisation’s technology platforms
Duties and responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain Azure infrastructure, including virtual machines, vNets, NSGs, private endpoints, storage, and platform services, with use of PowerShell and Infrastructure as Code (Bicep or Terraform)
- Support Microsoft 365 administration activities across Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and related services
- Administer identity and access management across Entra ID (including P2 features such as PIM and Conditional Access), MFA, and privileged access controls
- Maintain infrastructure security baselines, Defender XDR monitoring, patching, and operational resilience controls in line with BMA regulatory expectations and audit evidence requirements
- Administer Azure SQL and SQL Server estate, including database security, backup, performance monitoring, and supporting application teams with platform changes
- Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity activities, including platform restore processes, annual DR testing, and tabletop exercises
- Provide technical support and escalation assistance for infrastructure, network, and cloud-related incidents
- Contribute to infrastructure projects, automation initiatives, and platform improvement activities
- Administer core SaaS platforms and manage third-party technology vendors, modelling tools, and finance systems
- Support network and perimeter security, including firewalls, site-to-site and remote access VPN, and zero trust access controls
- Maintain technical documentation, configuration standards, and operational procedures
- Collaborate with service desk, security, project delivery, and business teams to support operational stability and service delivery
Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience or technical aptitude
- Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104), Microsoft 365 Administrator (MS-102), Security (SC-200 / SC-300), or related certifications are preferred
- 3–5 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, systems administration, or enterprise platform support roles
- Strong working knowledge of Azure infrastructure, Microsoft 365 administration, Intune endpoint management, and identity management concepts
- Experience supporting infrastructure security, monitoring, patching, backup, and disaster recovery activities within an enterprise environment
- Familiarity with Entra ID, conditional access, MFA, endpoint management, and operational support processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues in a structured manner
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly within regulated or control-focused environments
- Ability to balance operational support responsibilities with project delivery and continuous improvement activities
- Clear communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams
- Proactive, accountable, and adaptable approach within a fast-paced operational environment
- Comfortable working under change management in a regulated financial services environment, with experience producing audit evidence
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps), or wider data platform administration is an asset
- Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot, Copilot agents, and the wider Microsoft AI tooling stack is an asset
- Experience with Microsoft Purview for data governance, information protection, and compliance is an asset
- Strong cyber security mindset, with a working understanding of the threat landscape facing financial services and a hands-on approach to hardening, monitoring, and incident response
