The opportunity

We have a unique opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our nationally renowned and highly regarded Education team, based from our Bath or London office, this role also offers a hybrid working environment, with two days in the office per week.

This role is an exciting opportunity to develop your career with a highly regarded national firm, work with a high calibre client base from the outset, working closely with our nationally renowned Education team, which is ranked Tier 1 and receives outstanding recognition for their work from clients which is endorsed by individual rankings in Chambers and Legal 500

Key Responsibilities

General duties include, but are not limited to:

  • TMeet or exceed the Firm’s expectations for accurately recording your chargeable and non-chargeable hours, monitoring ongoing progress against them to help maximise performance or address potential shortfalls. 
  • Take the lead on complex projects and work as a team to optimise revenue and profit by implementing best practice matter management and service delivery. 
  • Effectively delegate to and provide supervision to more junior members of the team as required, ensuring work is conducted at the appropriate level.
  • Foster a culture of learning, collaboration, and high performance across the team.
  • Work in a collegiate and collaborative way within an immediate Team and wider Firm environment.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to generate new work and retain existing clients.
  • Lead on marketing initiatives, networking, and thought leadership to raise the Firm’s profile.
  • Contribute to strategic growth by identifying new markets, service lines, or opportunities.
  • Communicate promptly and effectively both internally to colleagues and externally to clients.
  • Continuing your professional development and staying updated with legal developments in the field.
  • To carry out your work for both colleagues and clients to the highest possible standard, having regard to the Firm’s standards, procedures and core values.
  • To attend and be involved in preparation for marketing and business development events and activities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and professional standards.
  • Drive profitability and efficiency while maintaining quality of service.

Essential

  • The ideal candidate will have relevant experience working on corporate or education M&A transactions and have an interest in in Education law and Independent Schools.
  • Experience of supervision and development of other team members is essential.
  • Previous experience of pro-active business development and marketing; ability to demonstrate generation of new revenue streams and be able to promote the firm and cross-sell other specialisms internally and externally. Typical business development opportunities would include, but are not limited to: attending seminars and networking events, presenting workshops to the firm’s client and being involved in pitches/tenders.
  • Candidates should be well-organised, technically proficient and a leader.
  • Have excellent communication skills, addressing any potentially difficult conversations promptly and with skill.
  • Proven experience in independently managing projects and cross-team working, demonstrating strong organisational skills and good financial hygiene (e.g. accurate time recording, billing discipline, and cost awareness).

Desirable

  • Experience in Education and Charity Law would be advantageous.
