This dynamic role contains Field Commissioning activities such as preventive & corrective maintenance, retrofits and commissioning activities, making it ideal for those with hands-on attitude, and a clear customer focus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities at customer facilities according to Sécheron standards.
  • Implement retrofits and modernization projects in collaboration with internal teams and customers.
  • Provide supervision of installation, testing, commissioning and occasionally customer trainings on Sécheron equipment.
  • Execute audits of existing equipment.
  • Elaboration of technical intervention reports and templates.
  • Support Sales Engineers on substation surveys on site interventions.
  • Support Sales team with the elaboration of repair quotations.
  • Promote proactively new service centered business opportunities during customer visits, such as spare parts sales repairs, on-site services, retrofits, trainings, etc.
  • Product Expertise: Provide support on DC products, including:

- DC switchgear, high-speed breakers, and panels

- Rectifiers, power converters, and voltage limiting devices

- Multi-function protection relays and custom electro-mechanical solutions

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; or relevant technical experience will also be considered.
  • Field Commissioning background in the field of installation, testing and maintenance of electrical equipment with custom electro-mechanical solutions.
  • Prior experience in power distribution, switchgear manufacturing, or similar roles (3+ years preferred).
  • Familiarity with DC power systems (Low Voltage and Medium Voltage up to 3kV).
  • Minimum requirement: High school diploma or GED combined with industry experience.
  • Safety training and certification including OSHA card, current basic first aid and CPR certification.
  • Systematic way of working, hand-on approach.
  • Strong customer orientation, good communication skills and the ability to move within the customer organization.
  • Excel and MS Office Suite (Office 365) user level knowledge.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and adaptable in complex technical environments.
  • Ability to analyze technical requirements and create clear, accurate solutions.
  • Domestic travel: up to 80%.
  • Occasional international travel.
  • Availability to go for a 4-6 week onboarding at the company’s European production plant.
  • Field Commissioning experience on DC traction substations (Advantageous).

Work Environment & Physical Demands (U.S.-Based Field Commissioning Engineer)

This role is primarily field-based and requires work in a variety of customer, industrial, and outdoor environments across the United States. The Field Commissioning Engineer must be able to safely perform duties under changing environmental and physical conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Work performed both indoors and outdoors, with regular exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, wind, snow, and humidity
  • Accessing active industrial, utility, construction, rail, or substation environments, which may include uneven terrain, elevated platforms, confined spaces, and high-noise areas
  • Standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders or stairs, and working at heights for extended periods
  • Manual handling, positioning, and installation of equipment, tools, and components, including the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Use of hand tools, power tools, test equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and arc-rated clothing as required
  • Compliance with all applicable U.S. safety regulations, customer site requirements, and company safety policies, including lockout/tagout, electrical safety, and job hazard analysis procedures
  • This position requires a high degree of physical mobility, situational awareness, and adherence to safety practices while working independently in the field and traveling extensively between job sites.
