About this role
Role Objective
The Data Manager will design and oversee the organization’s data migration and data management systems. The primary goal is to ensure that data is accurate, available, and secure while establishing a "Single Source of Truth" that enables leadership to make evidence-based business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy & Architecture: Design enterprise-wide data strategies, including the implementation of data lakes, warehouses, and master data management (MDM) frameworks.
- Data Governance & Compliance: Develop and enforce policies for data handling and sharing. Ensure full compliance with local and international regulations (e.g., UAE Data Protection Law, GDPR, PDPL).
- Data Quality Assurance: Formulate techniques for quality data collection to ensure the adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of all data sets.
- Security & Protection: Devise and implement secure procedures for data handling and analysis with attention to technical aspects like encryption, access control, and breach prevention.
- Reporting & Visualization: Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex data into actionable insights through dashboards (Power BI/Qlik).
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of data analysts and database administrators, fostering a data-driven culture across the department.
- Develop and implement data management policies and procedures
- Design, maintain, and optimize databases and data systems
- Oversee data collection, storage, backup, and recovery processes
- Perform data analysis and generate reports for management
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to meet data needs
- Monitor performance of data systems and troubleshoot issues
- Ensure data integrity, quality, and security compliance
- Manage data governance frameworks and documentation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field
- 3–7 years of experience in data management within Insurance domain
- Strong knowledge of SQL and database technologies (e.g., MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Database)
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI , Qlik)
- Understanding of data governance and data security standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities
