About this role

The Field Engineer for outage services plays a crucial role in supporting utility outage projects throughout the west. This position spends approximately 75% of the year on the road. When not on the road, you will work from your home office.

Our Field Engineers serve as a vital member of the project management team, providing support in various capacities including planning, scheduling, project execution oversight, tooling management, safety and quality oversight, subcontract monitoring and controlling, and corporate and customer reporting.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

Project Execution

  • Support the development and execution of project plans and schedules, coordinating closely with engineers to manage rigging and execution activities while ensuring all project documentation and reports are completed accurately and submitted on time.

 

Collaboration

  • Serve as an interface with engineering teams, providing direction and support in planning and troubleshooting project issues.
  • Collaborate within the project management team and with craft employees, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Participate in various project planning activities, including corporate meetings, customer visits, and project team conference calls.
  • Effectively communicate with project management team members, engineering teams, customers, and internal stakeholders.

 

Customer Focus

  • Communicate with customer contacts at project sites to ensure project activities meet customer expectations and requirements.
  • Report project progress, changes, and updates to clients and TEiC leadership.
  • Develop change order estimates and communicate changes to clients.

 

Technical Acumen

  • Review engineering drawings and analyze project impacts to support the operations department.
  • Support operations department with proposal development, project schedules, and forecasting.

 

Critical Thinking

  • Identify project challenges and propose solutions, including developing change order estimates and communicating changes to clients.

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred, but candidates with strong relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Must have strong knowledge of construction means and methods associated with the specific project types.
  • Entry level to 2 years experience
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to work with wide assortment of levels within the organization (project supervision, hourly employees, executive management.)
  • Willingness to travel and live/ work remotely from home for periods of up to 6 months
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with project management especially focused in full project life cycle.
  • Completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training (or equivalent) required prior to hire or within 30 days of onboarding.
  • NCCCO Rigger Level II certification preferred; candidates with or without Level I certification may be considered with the expectation to obtain Level II within 180 days of hire.
