About this role
Qiddiya Investment Company is seeking an accomplished and strategic Director - Design to lead the design function within the SDU (Strategic Design Unit). This pivotal role involves spearheading design initiatives that contribute to the creation of world-class developments, ensuring innovative, sustainable, and market-leading design practices are embedded throughout the project lifecycle.
Provides leadership in establishing and maintaining design and consultancy management framework, governance and operating model for QDC HQ team. Ensures the design processes are developed and rolled out to all Business units / sectors, supports delivery in BUs when required. Provides leadership for assigned HQ special projects accountable for meeting quality, time, budget and HSSE requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop design strategies within the Strategic Design Unit, driving innovation and excellence across all projects.
- Oversee the entire design process from conceptualization to execution, ensuring alignment with company objectives and high-quality standards.
- Manage, mentor, and inspire a team of design professionals, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including internal departments, external consultants, and regulatory bodies, to integrate design solutions that meet functional, aesthetic, and sustainability criteria.
- Conduct design reviews, workshops, and presentations to evaluate progress and guide project direction.
- Ensure design compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and sustainability standards.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to enhance design capabilities.
- Manage design budgets and timelines effectively, ensuring project delivery within agreed parameters.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Design, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- At least 12 years of progressive experience in design leadership roles, preferably within large-scale real estate or entertainment projects.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams and manage complex projects.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and sustainability.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficiency in design and project management software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and others.
- Knowledge of relevant local and international building codes and sustainability standards.
