Behavioral Health Clinician / Psychologist
(Pain Psychology / Behavioral Health Focus)
Position Summary
A healthcare organization is seeking a qualified Behavioral Health Clinician to diagnose and evaluate pain-related conditions and other mental and emotional disorders. This role involves comprehensive psychological assessment, treatment planning, and implementation of therapeutic interventions tailored to individual patient needs. The clinician collaborates closely with interdisciplinary teams to support patients’ biopsychosocial well-being and continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct clinical diagnostic interviews, administer psychometric assessments, and facilitate patient and family conferences
- Analyze and summarize patient data, prepare clinical reports, and communicate findings with interdisciplinary care teams
- Develop and implement individualized behavioral treatment plans, including therapy type, frequency, intensity, and duration
- Deliver therapeutic interventions to help patients manage symptoms and improve functioning
- Provide care for patients requiring complex or higher-acuity behavioral health interventions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary providers to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care
- Make appropriate referrals and assist with care coordination to address biopsychosocial needs
Additional Duties
- Provide education and cross-training to peers and behavioral health staff
- Assist with orientation, training, and supervision of new staff and students
- Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation and billing
- Provide clinical leadership and support to treatment teams
- Participate in community outreach and program development as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Experience, Training & Skills
- Training and experience in assessment, diagnosis, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and care transitions
- Experience with motivational interviewing and pain psychology preferred
- Knowledge of community resources and culturally responsive care practices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for individual and group settings
- Adherence to professional ethical standards and codes of conduct
- Ability to use electronic health records and standard computer applications
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and licensure maintenance
Certifications & Licensure
- Eligible for licensure as a Psychologist, Counselor, or Social Worker
- Must meet state licensure eligibility requirements
Education
- Master’s Degree required
- Doctoral Degree in Psychology preferred
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to move throughout the facility and perform essential job functions with or without accommodation
- Adequate vision and hearing with or without assistive devices
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods; occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and maintain reliable attendance
