About this role

Child and Family Guidance is seeking a compassionate, board‑certified (or board‑eligible) Clinical Psychiatrist- Contractor to join our outpatient mental health team. The ideal candidate will provide high‑quality psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment to a diverse population, working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary clinical staff. This role emphasizes patient‑centered care, evidence‑based practice, and supportive teamwork within a structured outpatient environment.


Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations including diagnostic assessments, mental status exams, and medical/psychiatric histories.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence‑based modalities.
  • Prescribe, adjust, and monitor psychotropic medications while ensuring safe and effective pharmacological management.
  • Provide ongoing psychiatric care through follow‑up visits, symptom monitoring, treatment modifications, and crisis intervention as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with therapists, case managers, nurses, and other clinical team members to support integrated, multidisciplinary care.
  • Document patient encounters, plans, and progress notes in accordance with clinical standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with ethical, legal, and professional standards including HIPAA and state regulations.
  • Provide patient and family education to improve treatment adherence and mental health outcomes.


Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
  • Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency program.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry.
  • Active and unrestricted state medical license (or eligible for licensure).
  • DEA license for prescribing controlled substances.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, cultural competency, and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Experience in an outpatient mental health setting preferred but not required.

  • Proficiency in trauma-informed care and evidence-based psychiatric practices.
  • Ability to manage a balanced caseload efficiently and compassionately.
  • Strong documentation and electronic health record (EHR) skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with interest in integrated behavioral health care.
  • Excellent communication, clinical judgment, and problem‑solving abilities.


 Work Environment:

  • Outpatient clinic setting with regular weekday schedule.
  • Supportive team culture with coordinated care model.
  • Access to administrative support, care coordination, and collaborative case review.
  • Hybrid work environment (office and virtual)


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to frequently (up to 90% of the time) sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs (if an elevator is unavailable).
  • Must be able to frequently (up to 90% of the time) talk, listen and speak clearly in person and via telephone.
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 25 lbs.
