About this role

About CORTO

We are CORTO, a cutting-edge software company dedicated to revolutionising the legal industry. Our mission is to empower legal practitioners with AI-driven solutions that streamline their workflow, boost productivity, and provide more efficient client service.

Our team of AI experts and engineers collaborate to develop intelligent software tailored to the unique needs of lawyers, paralegals, and legal assistants.

Our innovative AI solutions automate routine tasks, simplify document management, and enhance decision-making, allowing legal professionals to focus on what they do best—providing expert legal counsel.

We’re rapidly scaling from 80 to 150+ employees, with a highly technical workforce where around 90% of the team are developers and engineers. Working alongside our Sydney-based team of passionate high achievers, you’ll join a fast-growing technology business where things rarely stay the same for long - and if you’re smart, caring, and ambitious, you’ll be in great company.

What you’ll do

You’ll play a hands-on role in growing CORTO’s customer and partner relationships across the legal industry. This role is designed for a former or practising lawyer who is ready to move into a commercial, client-facing role in legal technology. You’ll use your first-hand understanding of legal practice, client matters, time recording, billing, invoicing and law firm operations to help firms understand the value of CORTO. You’ll report to the CMO and work closely with the CEO, supporting commercial growth across new business, referral channels, events, partner-led opportunities and existing market relationships. You’ll bring around 3+ years of legal practice experience and a genuine appetite for moving into commercial growth.

To make this happen you will

  • Use your understanding of legal practice, time recording, billing and invoicing to explain CORTO’s value in practical terms
  • Engage and convert prospective customers, partners and referral sources
  • Lead discovery conversations and product demonstrations with law firms
  • Work with the CMO to align business development activity with campaigns, events and market positioning
  • Collaborate with the CEO on strategic legal tech channel opportunities
  • Represent CORTO at webinars, events, partner meetings and industry activities
  • Translate customer and partner feedback into useful insights for marketing, product and leadership teams

What you’ll bring

  • Experience as a practising lawyer, former lawyer or legally trained professional
  • Strong understanding of how law firms operate, including matters, client service, time recording, billing and invoicing
  • Commercial curiosity and a genuine interest in moving into sales, business development or legal technology
  • Ability to understand software workflows quickly and explain product value clearly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Even better if you have

  • Experience in business development, client relationship management, practice growth or legal operations
  • Experience presenting, running training sessions, hosting webinars or speaking at industry events

You are the type of person who

  • Is ready to apply legal experience in a more commercial, technology-led role
  • Builds trust quickly with customers, partners and internal teams
  • Communicates clearly, commercially and with confidence
  • Takes initiative and thrives in fast-moving environments
  • Is highly organised and disciplined with follow-up, CRM hygiene and pipeline management
  • Can balance relationship building with practical day-to-day sales activity
  • Is curious about technology, professional services and how AI can improve the way law firms work

CORTO is an inclusive, people-first company committed to breaking down institutional barriers that keep people from reaching their potential. If you meet some, but not all the requirements above, we encourage you to still submit your application.
