The opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Account Director to lead and grow key client relationships at Akcelo. You’ll be accountable for strategic account leadership, commercial performance, and building senior client trust—shaping long-term growth plans and ensuring exceptional delivery across your portfolio. You will be a true brand champion, leading strategy, defining success criteria, and driving outcomes that matter for your clients and Akcelo.


What you’ll do

A normal day in the role of Senior Account Director includes:

  • Owning senior client relationships across an assigned portfolio, acting as a trusted advisor at C-suite and senior stakeholder level
  • Identifying, shaping and converting growth opportunities (expansion, cross-sell, up-sell), exceeding revenue and margin targets
  • Leading the development of strategic client growth plans, including annual roadmaps, success metrics and commercial frameworks
  • Preparing accurate forecasts, tracking performance, and implementing actions to meet and exceed targets
  • Running high-impact client sessions to uncover business problems, define opportunities, and influence decision-making
  • Overseeing onboarding of new clients and driving retention, satisfaction and long-term partnership value
  • Mobilising the Akcelo team around client goals, championing the client internally while protecting team wellbeing and delivery quality
  • Leading the creation of key client deliverables: decks, scopes, commercial proposals, statements of work and project plans
  • Ensuring delivery excellence across all workstreams, with proactive risk management aligned to timelines, quality and budget
  • Activating the right Akcelo capability to solve client needs today, while anticipating what they’ll need next
  • Coaching and developing Account Directors/Account Managers, building a high-performing team and strong agency culture
  • Contributing to agency leadership through process improvement, capability building, and setting best practice in account leadership

What you’ll bring

To be in the running for this role, you should have:

  • Demonstrated experience leading client portfolios within an agency environment, ideally across complex accounts
  • Strong commercial acumen: forecasting, revenue growth, margin awareness, and confident negotiation
  • Experience in retail and a solid understanding of the sector
  • An entrepreneurial flair — always looking for what’s next, with a track record of creating opportunities
  • Confidence leading strategy and translating it into clear plans, briefs and measurable outcomes
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including presenting to and influencing senior decision-makers
  • A positive, solution-focused mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity and change
  • Proven leadership: inspiring, motivating and developing others, building capability through coaching and feedback
  • Experience leading and delivering digital campaigns (retail-focused is an advantage)
  • A team-first approach and a genuine passion for championing your people within the agency
