Job Description and Responsibilities
This is a part-time, on-site role as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing serving a school located in Cordele, GA.
The Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing will be responsible for providing teaching and case management services to students, conducting assessments, developing IEP plans, evaluating progress, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (therapists, educators, parents). The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for working with students with special needs.

- Part-time, 20 hours/week
- 2026-2027 School year, August - May/June.
- On-site, in-person
- PreK – 12 grades

- $55 – $85+/hour ($1100-$1700/week+)
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and assess individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Deliver instruction tailored to meet the diverse learning styles and needs of students.
- Collaborate with parents, educators, and specialists to ensure a comprehensive approach to student learning and support.
- Monitor student progress and adapt instructional strategies to improve outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and progress to inform ongoing instruction and planning.
- Create a welcoming, safe, and productive classroom environment that encourages positive behavior and learning.
- Provide guidance and support to classroom staff in implementing educational strategies for students with special needs.
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Valid Georgia certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) or eligibility to obtain certification
- 1+ years of experience in a school setting preferred
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Knowledge of IEP development and special education compliance
- Organizational and time management skills
- Proficient in use of technology
- Fingerprint background clearance
- Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents with a demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications
Physical Requirements
Working and playing with students requires that employees must be able to perform the necessary physical movement functions, as needed, such as lifting, sitting, walking, standing, crawling, and engaging with students in all physical locations and activities, while adhering to the duties outlined by the district.
