This position requires travel and will be covering our offices in Desert Ridge, Scottsdale, Chandler, and Mesa.

Purpose:

The Mohs Histotechnician will be responsible for supporting Mohs micrographic surgery procedures by providing high-quality histological services within a dynamic clinical environment. This role requires attention to detail, precision, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced atmosphere.

This position is primarily focused on Mohs Histotechnology responsibilities. While occasional Medical Assistant support may be needed, MA duties are minimal and infrequent.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cut frozen sections of tissue specimens utilizing Mohs surgical techniques.
  • Process and embed tissue samples accurately and efficiently for histopathological examination.
  • Perform staining techniques for slide preparation and ensure quality control measures are met.
  • Document all steps and processes associated with specimen processing and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety and regulatory standards as outlined by CLIA.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to support uninterrupted workflow.
  • Collaborate with the surgical and clinical teams to ensure a seamless operation during Mohs procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to other laboratory staff as necessary.
  • Engage in continuous education and training to improve histotechnical skills and knowledge.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the laboratory supervisor or team lead.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Histotechnology or a related field.
  • Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Histotechnologist (HTL) is preferred.
  • Prior experience within a histology or Mohs laboratory is strongly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with team members and patients.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
