About this role

Position Summary

The Direct Care worker provides support and guidance to ensure daily resident activities are consistent with all sober home expectations. This role supports a safe, recovery-focused environment that is trauma-informed and gender-responsive. The RRS provides support for various daily living tasks and encourages engagement in recovery maintenance and relapse prevention planning activities. The direct care worker also supports the Sober Home Supervisor in program certification and development tasks.

Pay Rate: $20 an hour

Open Shift: Sunday through Thursday 3:30pm-7:30pm (20hrs)

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate resident support and community engagement by organizing activities, facilitating house meetings, and strengthening community relationships and bonds.
  • Provide trauma-informed and gender-responsive interventions, offering supportive guidance, crisis support, and de-escalation as needed.
  • Assist residents with routines and independent living skills, helping them develop structured routines, life skills, and manage move-in/move-out transitions.
  • Monitor and document resident behavior and progress, including tracking incidents and administering urine drug screens.
  • Support household management and responsibilities by monitoring chores, maintaining clean and safe spaces, and facilitating rent collection as needed.
  • Assist with appointments and transportation, providing occasional rides to meetings, activities, or other services.
  • Communicate and collaborate with supervisors, maintaining consistent communication and supporting program development and MASH re-certification.
  • Promote a recovery-oriented, person-centered culture, encouraging a supportive, respectful environment that prioritizes resident growth and recovery.

About the Division of Recovery Services (DRS)

The Division of Recovery Services (DRS) supports individuals of all ages navigating mental health and substance use challenges. Our youth residential programs provide a safe, structured environment for adolescents to address behavioral health needs. For adults, DRS offers residential and outreach support for those in recovery or living with addiction, including many with co-occurring mental health concerns. Through compassionate, trauma-informed care, we help individuals build coping skills, restore stability, and work toward long-term recovery and wellness.

  • Valid driver's license, safe and reliable vehicle, and acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals impacted by substance use, homelessness, trauma and/or mental health challenges preferred.
  • Lived experience in one of the above areas preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time, and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong oral, written, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Ability to foster engaged and supportive relationships.
  • Ability to build culture and community in a diverse residential setting.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain certifications in CPR and First Aid.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED); must be at least 18 years old.
