About this role

Overview

Fueling Brains Education Services provides early intervention programming for children accessing Program Unit Funding (PUF) and Mild/Moderate (MM) funding across multiple Academy locations in Calgary and Strathmore.

This is not a traditional clinic-based role.


Our model blends early intervention, multidisciplinary collaboration, and real-world learning environments to create meaningful opportunities for children to develop communication, self-regulation, social-emotional skills, and independence.

This role offers a different way to support children and families.


You will work within a multidisciplinary team to assess developmental and behavioural needs, develop individualized support strategies, and coach educators and families within inclusive early learning environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assessment & Developmental Analysis:

  • Conduct developmental, behavioural, and psychological assessments to identify cognitive, social-emotional, behavioural, and adaptive functioning needs
  • Interpret assessment findings and identify strengths, challenges, and areas for intervention
  • Contribute to individualized programming recommendations based on assessment outcomes


Behavioural & Developmental Planning:

  • Develop strengths-based intervention plans and classroom support strategies
  • Translate clinical findings into practical recommendations for educators, families, and support staff
  • Support children's development in areas including:
    • Self-regulation
    • Social-emotional development
    • Executive functioning
    • Behavioural flexibility
    • Participation and engagement
    • School readiness skills


Consultation & Coaching:

  • Provide coaching and consultation to educators, therapy assistants, and families
  • Model evidence-based behavioural and developmental support strategies
  • Support consistent implementation of intervention plans across home and school environments


Collaboration & Communication:

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, educators, therapy assistants, and specialists
  • Build strong relationships with families and maintain ongoing communication
  • Participate in team meetings, case discussions, planning sessions, and professional development


Progress Monitoring & Documentation:

  • Monitor child progress and evaluate intervention effectiveness
  • Review data and adjust recommendations as needed
  • Prepare professional reports, documentation, and program records aligned with Alberta Education and program requirements



Required Skills and Qualifications

Education

  • Master's or Doctoral Degree in Psychology (School, Clinical, Educational Psychology, or related field)


Professional Registration

  • Registered Psychologist in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP)

         (OR)

  • Eligible Psychological Practitioner with relevant graduate training


Experience

  • Experience working with early childhood or pediatric populations strongly preferred
  • Experience assessing developmental, behavioural, and social-emotional needs
  • Experience working within educational, early intervention, or multidisciplinary settings is an asset

  • Strong understanding of child development, neurodevelopment, and early intervention practices
  • Ability to translate clinical findings into practical, classroom-based strategies
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

Work Environment Requirements

  • School and classroom-based role within Fueling Brains Academy locations
  • Collaborative multidisciplinary environment involving educators, therapists, assistants, and families
  • Active, hands-on environment involving observation, coaching, consultation, and interaction with young children
  • Travel between Calgary and Strathmore campuses may be required


Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Police Information Check (Vulnerable Sector) prior to employment
  • Ability to work a 10-month contract (September–June)
  • Willingness to participate in onboarding and training related to Fueling Brains' intervention model
