About the role
We’re seeking a curious and analytical Market & Portfolio Analyst to join our Physical Markets & Portfolio Analytics team. This role acts as the analytical engine connecting Trading & Origination (T&O), Integrated Portfolio Planning (IPP), and Finance. You’ll play a key role in modelling and optimising AGL’s gas and electricity portfolio supporting daily operations, financial forecasting, and commercial strategy while helping integrate gas, renewables, and firming assets to support AGL’s decarbonisation pathway.
What You’ll Be Doing
Execute and maintain complex portfolio models (including ST 3-Year PLEXOS), running scenario analysis across gas and electricity markets
Monitor macro and market drivers (e.g. oil curves) and report on impacts to pricing, portfolio exposure, and renewable integration
Provide real-time pricing and market impact analysis during network constraints
Support daily physical gas operations, including haulage optimisation, storage positions, and gas supply mix tracking
Track portfolio performance against budget and deliver variance analysis for Finance and leadership
Build and enhance analytical tools and dashboards using Python to automate reporting and improve decision-making
What You’ll Bring
A passion for the Australian energy market and the energy transition.
Strong analytical and numerical skills, with a foundation in statistics or modelling.
A tertiary qualification in a quantitative field (e.g. Mathematics, Engineering, Econometrics).
3+ years of relevant experience preferred.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Exposure to tools like Plexos and programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, or Java is highly regarded.
A proactive, curious mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment
