As a Peer Specialist, you will:
- Serve as a mentor and role model for individuals on their recovery journey.
- Connect clients to essential support services.
- Lead groups focused on improving wellness and daily living skills.
- Advocate for clients and provide peer support.
- Assist clients with after-care services and navigating the community.
- Contribute to a recovery-oriented culture within our program/team.
This is an entry-level position that welcomes individuals with limited client care experience. We value lived experience and are committed to providing training and support for your professional development.
To be successful, you will:
- Have a lived experience of recovery from a serious mental illness or addiction, either personally or from a close family member
- Pass a Level II Background Check or obtain a DCF Exemption from Disqualification within 180 days of hire.
- Hold a Peer Specialist Certification from the Florida Certification Board or achieve certification within one year from the hire date.
- Possess strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Be empathetic, compassionate, and supportive.
- Demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
- Be reliable, responsible, and detail-oriented.
- Become knowledgeable on the agency's Recovery Community Organization and/or Drop-In Center scope of work.
- Hold a valid driver's license and be able to transport clients as needed.
