Upender Load & Unload - 2nd Shift

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Upender’s objective is to lift the frame off the mainframe fixture with the upender machine, inspect and clean the welds on the frame, attach the proper hanging hooks to the frame and then hang the frame on the overhead paint system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Documents the completed weld times of each frame.  

• Picks up frame with lift machine using remote control.

• Inspects and cleans the frame welds with wire brush and scraper.

• Communicates and documents any weld defects.  

• Attaches proper hanging hooks to the frame that the prints display.  

• Hoists and hangs the frame on the overhead paint system with upender’s remote.  

• Releases the carrier to go the loading platform.   

• Keep a clean, safe workstation throughout the shift.

• ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent   Choose an item. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

• Ability to read blueprints and specifications

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

• N/A

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Lifting to 50 lbs.

• Straight pulling

• Pushing

• Repeated bending

• Reaching over shoulders

• Use of fingers

• Both hands required

• Walking

• Standing

• Kneeling

• Repeated stretching

• Specific visual requirements

• Ability to distinguish basic colors

• Ability to distinguish shades of color

• Hearing (aid permitted)

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Outside and inside

• Extreme heat

• Dust

• Fumes, smoke, or gasses

• Solvents (degreasing agents)

• Slippery or uneven walking surfaces

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

• Performs tasks and duties under direct supervision, using well-defined policies and procedures. Work is reviewed by supervisor. Limited opportunity exists for exercising independent judgment and decision making.
