Position Title: Technician II – MTC
Job Summary: The Technician II – MTC supports manufacturing operations within the Motor Technology Center by performing defined and controlled production processes used in the fabrication of precision magnetic stacks. This role executes annealing, bonding, and stacking operations in accordance with established procedures, work instructions, and recipes while operating standard production equipment and control panels under routine or general supervision.
The position is responsible for producing magnetic stacks that meet documented dimensional and magnetic specifications, escalating abnormalities or deviations to senior technicians or engineering as required. This role emphasizes safety, quality, consistency, and technical skill development while contributing to the reliable production of high-value products.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform annealing, bonding, and stacking operations following established procedures and recipes
Operate standard production equipment, control panels, and automated systems
Produce magnetic stacks that meet defined dimensional and magnetic specifications
Monitor production processes and identify abnormalities or deviations
Escalate process, quality, or equipment issues to senior technicians, engineering, or supervision
Use measurement and inspection tools (e.g., optical comparators, basic CMM functions, magnetic test equipment) as directed
Collect and document production and inspection data in accordance with quality requirements
Support continuous improvement activities through data collection, feedback, and implementation of directed changes
Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
Demonstrates developing working knowledge and technical skills within assigned manufacturing or laboratory processes
Applies foundational scientific and technical principles to routine production activities
Operates standard metallurgical and/or laboratory equipment in accordance with documented instructions
Serves as a reliable team member, seeking guidance when addressing unfamiliar or complex situations
Builds technical proficiency through hands-on experience and adherence to established methods
Additional Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required
Associate degree in a technology-related field preferred
Two to four years of related technical or manufacturing experience
Perform annealing, bonding, and stacking processes for magnetic laminations in accordance with established procedures
Understand how key process variables affect product quality
Operate control panels and automated systems to execute defined production recipes
Verify product dimensions and magnetic properties using approved measurement equipment
Assist in troubleshooting process issues under direction of senior technicians, engineering, or quality
Apply established techniques to accommodate material differences (e.g., Hiperco vs. electrical steel)
Support process development and optimization initiatives through hands-on production support and data collection
Follow established schedules and direction in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Demonstrate basic cross-functional awareness of design, prototyping, and production requirements
Share knowledge, assist peers, and learn from senior technicians
Complete required documentation to support traceability and compliance
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives as directed
Demonstrate commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous learning
Communicate effectively with team members and supervision regarding requirements, status, and concerns
Provide suggestions for improving processes and work instructions based on hands-on experience
