About this role

The Role

The role leads the Client Strategy team across all art departments and in the region to ensure successful delivery of client coverage and engagement objectives for all business channels.  This role will work closely with the Regional President and other key stakeholders to set these objectives and deploy resources and plans to achieve them, with measurable impact. This senior role will also work with their equivalents in other regions to ensure proper global coverage.  The role leads the Client Strategy team with regional responsibility across APAC to ensure

successful delivery of client engagement and coverage for the region.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities will include but are not limited to

Responsible for ensuring the Client Strategy team for APAC region is creating and driving the short, mid and long-term client strategy in the region.

  • Collaborate with Specialist Art Department Heads to understand curatorial objectives for sales.
  • Work with Client Strategy team to ensure that proactive short, medium and long term sourcing strategies are developed and executed across all Auctions & Private Sales in the region.
  • Lead top client and regional sourcing reviews to support Client Team Leads and sourcing opportunities for specialist departments.
  • Ensure vital client intelligence is captured in Christie’s data bases
  • Ensure action driven post sale reviews & competitive debriefs to inform future sales pipelines/sourcing strategies in region are in place.
  • Ensure effective selling efforts by Client Team Leads across regions in the lead up to Sales.
  • Leverage resources across the Client Strategy team to ensure appropriate support is provided to auction departments  to execute sourcing strategies and selling of top lots.
  • Work with the CRM and Marketing/Digital teams to effectively sell sales, freeing up resources to support sourcing strategies.
  • Support Regional President to ensure that programming for region – is  aligned with objectives of region.
  • Thoroughly research market conditions and client trends to identify new business opportunities.

Top Clients

  • Review clients with Executive team and Client Team Leads to help drive global strategies for top clients in the Region.
  • Drive global collaboration with Client Strategy Heads in EMEA & Americas and ensure top client forums are organized and effective.

Team Management

  • As needed, manage the performance and development of the team by setting SMART objectives and conducting bi-annual performance reviews alongside continual mentoring and coaching.
  • Ensure best practise is being utilised across the business using centralised resources.

The Candidate

  • Has ability to influence at most senior levels in the Company.
  • Highly strategic, but hands on operator, managing a team and multiple senior stakeholders.
  • Highly analytical and be able to develop strategy based on comprehensive sources of data internally.
  • Has accumulated significant knowledge, insights and experience of these clients so as to influence CTLs on their engagement plans with clients.
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills with the ability to communicate and influence people.
  • Able to prioritize, manage time effectively and work under pressure to tight deadlines, whilst keeping an eye on longer-term projects.
  • Showing a high level of sensitivity to confidential information.
  • Flexible team player with demonstrable initiative and creativity.
  • Strong people and change manager, ability to collaborate and lead a team.
  • Deep understanding of cultural differences across the region.
  • Fluency in English and knowledge of Chinese is preferred.
  • Experience with client management of HNWI or UHNWI (ultra-high net worth individual) preferred
  • Year of working experience 15+
