The temporary, part-time, grant-funded Clinical Instructor position reports to the Director of Clinical Programs and will provide clinical supervision to graduate students in the Robbins Speech Language and Hearing Center, supporting the clinical requirements of the department's accredited Master's program in Speech-Language Pathology. This role requires exceptional clinical skills in the area of bilingual assessment and intervention in the field of speech language pathology, as well as the ability to collaborate and communicate with a diverse population of the college community.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Provide targeted student training in bilingual assessment and intervention.

  • Assist in the selection of bilingual materials to expand clinical resources

  • Assist in developing project goals and measuring outcomes

  • Supervise graduate students as they lead speech and language evaluation and therapy sessions.

  • Meet with students to provide feedback and discuss skills, grades, suggestions, and concerns.

  • Coordinate and oversee client care.

  • Lead individual and group supervision meetings with the graduate student clinicians.

  • Maintain current knowledge of the discipline by attending meetings, reading professional journals, and participating in community-based professional activities.

  • Review and provide feedback on treatment plans, SOAP notes, evidence-based practice papers, and summary reports written by graduate students.ย 

  • Assist with recruitment and outreach to attain new bilingual clients in the Robbins Center.

  • Collaborate with other professionals as appropriate.

  • Complete administrative work and maintain records as required.

  • Provide guidance and training to other staff members as required.ย 

  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS โ€“ Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) required

  • 3 or more years of experience in the SLP field working with bilingual populations required

  • ASHA CCC-SLP certifications and Massachusetts state SLP licensure required

  • Knowledge of a second oral language, in addition to English, required

  • Documentation of completed continuing education training in the area of supervision, required

  • Proficiency in a variety of learning management, clinical documentation, and file-sharing platforms, and the ability to learn new software easily

  • Expert knowledge of the Speech-Language Pathology field, including expertise in clinical writing, editing, and teaching

  • Ability to supervise graduate student clinicians

  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to handle sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow through on tasks and requests

  • Ability to maintain multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize tasks

  • Ability to collaborate and work with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

  • This position is generally sedentary, movement throughout the area is required from time to time.

  • The ability to have continuous oral and written communication with students, co-workers, and supervisors is essential.

  • Repetitive movements, occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds, reaching, lifting, stooping and the ability to read a computer screen, detect color-coding and read fine print will be expected.


WORK ENVIRONMENT โ€“ Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

The hourly rate for this position is $55 an hour.

Grade of Position: T01N

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 8.00
