In the role of Electrical Controls Technician III, you contribute significantly to the safe and consistent operation of our facilities by maintaining and optimizing electrical and control systems. This fully qualified position requires you to monitor and service station electrical systems, unit control systems, and auxiliary equipment controls. Additionally, you will lead and assist with activities throughout the team.

You will use your technical skills to diagnose complex systems, address unusual operating conditions, and complete all tasks according to company and regulatory requirements. This role allows you to support operational excellence by offering mentorship to less experienced employees and contractors within a cooperative, safety-conscious setting.

What You Will Do:

  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment at the station, including switchgear, motors, generators, pumps, and fans.

  • Support and maintain control systems and networks, including PLCs, HMIs, and associated instrumentation and field devices.

  • Maintain DC systems such as batteries, chargers, rectifiers, and inverters to ensure continuous and reliable operations.

  • Inspect, test, and maintain safety systems, including ESD panels, gas and flame detection systems, and emergency shutdown devices.

  • Detect and react to irregular operating conditions while maintaining accurate documentation and reports.

  • Provide mentorship to contractors and less experienced employees while supporting work planning and execution activities.

  • Ensure all work aligns with company policies, SOPs, O&M procedures, and regulatory standards (e.g., NEC, PHMSA, EPA).

Who You Are:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant experience, supported by a certified trade, technical designation, or equivalent hands-on training.

  • Strong commitment to safety, with demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to Enbridge safety policies and procedures.

  • Proven technical and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and support complex equipment and processes.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and share information.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, while supporting more complex tasks and procedures as needed.

  • Proficient with standard computer applications and able to contribute to a collaborative, inclusive team environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, and humidity.

  • Occasional travel may be required to various operational sites.

  • Flexibility to work on a rotating schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as necessary to support 24/7 operations.

  • Currently resides or is willing to relocate within 30 miles of the assigned reporting location.

Physical Demands (Include but are not limited to):

Include but are not limited to Grasping, kneeling, light-moderate lifting (objects up to 50 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read the fine print), hearing requirement. Mobility to walk in outdoor conditions that occasionally involve uneven and slippery terrain and to enter and exit excavations. Agility can ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and other devices using feet, legs, and/or hands and arms.

Include but are not limited to the Ability to: understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information; understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions; organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology; organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
