**Job Title: Principal DevOps Engineer**
**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a highly accomplished and forward-thinking **Principal DevOps Engineer** to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our DevOps practices and infrastructure. In this role, you will drive high-impact initiatives across CI/CD pipelines, cloud and on-premises infrastructure, observability systems, and scalable automation. You will work closely with engineering, operations, and leadership teams to ensure seamless collaboration and delivery of business-critical software and services.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. **Strategic DevOps Leadership**:
- Define and execute the roadmap for DevOps practices, tooling, and infrastructure to meet organizational and technical goals.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams to integrate DevOps methodologies and best practices into the development lifecycle.
- Act as the technical authority for DevOps, driving innovative solutions and championing a culture of continuous improvement.
2. **Infrastructure Automation & Orchestration**:
- Design and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant cloud and hybrid infrastructures using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.
- Implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and automate complex deployments across multi-cloud and on-premises environments.
3. **CI/CD & Deployment Pipelines**:
- Architect, build, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to accelerate software delivery, ensuring high availability and zero-downtime deployments.
- Drive adoption and implementation of GitOps and DevSecOps practices to enhance pipeline security, compliance, and quality.
4. **Observability & Reliability Engineering**:
- Build and enhance observability systems for monitoring, logging, and alerting, using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, and DataDog.
- Establish metrics and SLAs for system performance and reliability, and implement strategies to meet or exceed them.
5. **Cloud & Containerization Expertise**:
- Lead containerization strategies and orchestration efforts using Docker, Kubernetes, and related platforms.
- Oversee deployments and workloads across cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and ensure cost-effective scaling and resource optimization.
6. **Security & Compliance**:
- Establish best practices for system security, ensuring compliance with relevant standards (e.g., SOC2, ISO 27001).
- Work with security teams to integrate security tools (SAST, DAST) and measures into development and deployment pipelines.
7. **Incident Management & Troubleshooting**:
- Lead incident response efforts, troubleshoot critical issues, and drive root cause analysis (RCA) and post-mortems.
- Mentor teams on proactive measures for system resilience and create runbooks for streamlined issue resolution.
8. **Mentorship & Collaboration**:
- Mentor DevOps engineers, enabling them to grow into senior and leadership roles.
- Foster collaboration across teams to align objectives, resolve conflicts, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
9. **Documentation & Knowledge Sharing**:
- Create comprehensive documentation for infrastructure design, workflows, and DevOps processes to facilitate knowledge sharing.
**Qualifications and Requirements:**
- **Experience**: 10+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or a related discipline, with at least 4 years in a leadership or principal-level role.
- **Containers and Orchestration**: Extensive experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- **Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)**: Mastery of Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools for building and managing cloud infrastructure.
- **Cloud Expertise**: In-depth knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP) and multi-cloud strategies.
- **CI/CD Systems**: Strong experience with CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or Azure DevOps.
- **Monitoring & Incident Management**: Deep understanding of observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, DataDog) and high-availability systems.
- **Programming**: Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Go, Ruby, or Bash).
- **Security and Compliance**: Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and security policies, including vulnerability assessment and threat modeling.
- **Communication Skills**: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- **Certifications (Preferred)**: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or similar credentials.

The annual base pay for this position is: $186,400.00 - $279,600.00F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business.
