Job Description

The Behavioral and Justice Sciences Program in the College of Business and Humanities at the University of Findlay invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position in Criminal Justice/Pre-Law beginning in August 2026. The Behavioral and Justice Sciences Program is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable instructor to teach both lower and upper level undergraduate courses in both criminal justice and law. The ideal candidate will contribute to our mission of delivering a student-centered education and fostering an environment of pedagogical excellence, experiential learning, professional development, service, and scholarship. This position is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team of educators who are devoted to preparing students for meaningful lives and productive careers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach lower and upper-level criminal justice and law courses in both seated and online formats.

  • Develop and deliver engaging course materials that meet the department's academic standards.

  • Develop and deliver experiential learning activities to students promoting active learning and professional development.

  • Advise and provide mentorship to undergraduate students.

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance student learning and meet departmental strategic objectives.

  • Assist the Behavioral and Justice Sciences Department with program marketing, student recruitment, assessment activities, and other initiatives as directed by the department chair, director, dean, and university administration

  • Engage in professional development activities and scholarship to stay current in the field of criminal justice.

Qualifications: The requirement for this position is a JD degree from an ABA accredited program who is a member of the state bar association with tested experience in practicing law. Those with a Ph.D. in law or a Ph.D. in criminal justice with an emphasis in law will also be considered. Preference will be given to those who have tested experience in criminal law and the criminal justice profession. Candidates should possess the ability to work effectively and collegially with a diverse group of students, faculty, administrators, and staff. Candidates should demonstrate strong passion/commitment to teaching excellence, student advising and mentorship, experiential learning, professional development, university/community service, and scholarship.  Candidates must have the ability to develop and deliver curriculum, meet the demands of the position in a timely manner, and assess student learning outcomes. Moreover, candidates should have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and the potential to assume leadership roles within the college.
