The Advancement Officer drives annual giving efforts by buildingĀ strongĀ donor relationships through effective cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies, whileĀ identifyingĀ opportunities to deepen donor engagement and increase donations.Ā
Working closely with the Director of Advancement and Communications and the Advancement team, theĀ Advancement Officer manages a portfolio ofĀ approximately 150ā300 donors, primarily giving in the $250ā$1,000 range. This roleĀ isĀ responsible forĀ generating annual revenue throughĀ one-to-one solicitations, annual campaigns, event revenue, and volunteer-driven fundraising strategies. ThisĀ positionĀ plays a critical part in strengthening Simpsonās pipeline of philanthropic support.Ā

Key ResponsibilitiesĀ
Donor Portfolio Management & Solicitation (40%)Ā
- Manage and grow a portfolio ofĀ approximately 150ā300 individual donors and prospects in the $250ā$1,000 giving range.Ā
- Identify, qualify, and cultivate newĀ and currentĀ donors, converting volunteers, first-time and event-based supporters into ongoing annual donors.Ā
- Manage ongoing prospect research within their donor portfolio and among new donors, volunteers, and event participants toĀ identifyĀ opportunities for cultivation, solicitation, and increased giving.Ā
- Collaborate with the Advancement team in executing multichannel annual giving campaigns including direct mail, email, online giving, and peer-to-peer fundraising.Ā
- Write compelling donor communications including appeals, acknowledgments, and impact updates.Ā
- EnsureĀ timely, personalized follow-up with donors and consistent engagement across all touchpoints.Ā
- Conduct donor outreach through email, phone, events, and in-person meetings.Ā
- Develop segmentation strategies to improve donor retention andĀ identifyĀ upgrade opportunities.Ā
- Build clear pathways from new and entry-level donorsĀ toĀ sustained annual giving.Ā
- Leverage Art 4 Shelter,Ā GiveĀ to the Max, Cook & Connect, and other engagement opportunities toĀ acquireĀ and growĀ donorĀ base.Ā
Cook & Connect Volunteer Program Fundraising (25%)Ā
- Collaborate closely with the Volunteer Engagement Manager in building donor relationshipsĀ throughĀ theĀ volunteerĀ programĀ and serveĀ as the primaryĀ donorĀ relationship manager for Cook & Connect.Ā
- Build andĀ maintainĀ relationships thatĀ evolveĀ volunteer engagement into financial support.Ā
- Develop and execute a fundraising strategy tied to volunteer participation, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.Ā
- ExpandĀ individualĀ volunteersĀ and groupsĀ into ongoing donors.Ā
- IdentifyĀ upgrade opportunitiesĀ and participation in Art 4 Shelter and other cultivation events.Ā Track and report on donor and volunteer engagement, participation, and donation outcomes.Ā
Events & Sponsorships (20%)Ā
- Play a key role inĀ donor and sponsor engagement for key fundraising events, including ticket sales and sponsorship.Ā
- Contribute to theĀ procurement of artworkĀ and auction itemsĀ for Art 4 Shelter byĀ identifyingĀ and engaging artists, cultivating new relationships, and strengthening connections with returning contributors.Ā
- Coordinate donor recognition and cultivation events in collaboration with the Advancement team.Ā
- Participate in planning and executing event tasks, as directed by the Director of Advancement and Communications.Ā
Data Management & Collaboration (15%)Ā
- MaintainĀ accurateĀ donor records and track portfolio activity utilizingĀ Giveffect.Ā
- Analyze donor data and performance benchmarks to support department strategy, deepen donor relationships, and drive year-over-year growth from individual donors.Ā
- Monitor fundraising progress and provide weekly and monthly updates to the Director of Advancement and Communications.Ā
- Contribute to team planning, strategy development, and annual fundraising goal setting.Ā
Required QualificationsĀ
- Minimum of 3ā5 years of progressive experience in fundraising, with a strong emphasis on individual giving and major gifts.Ā
- Evolve knowledge of and commitment to equity and anti-racism on an individual level andĀ participateĀ in Advancement and Communications Teamās commitment.Ā Ā Ā
- Participate in meetings, trainings, and workshops hosted by SHS about diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and other related topics.Ā
- Comfortable withĀ lifting upĀ to 20 pounds and moving items.Ā
- Valid driverās license, access to reliable transportation, and ability toĀ regularly workĀ evenings and weekends.Ā
- DemonstratedĀ proficiencyĀ in the Microsoft Office suite andĀ CRMĀ development data system.Ā
