Role Overview
SAAZ is seeking an embedded entrepreneur to lead commercialization of its next-generation imaging and sensing technologies across defense and dual-use markets. This role sits at the intersection of customer discovery, MVP definition, and transition-to-program execution. The ideal candidate is a builder—not a slide-maker—who can translate mission needs into fieldable products and move them from prototype to programs of record, defense contractors, and commercial industry.
This is a hands-on role with direct ownership of customer engagement, MVP delivery, and go-to-market execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as an embedded commercial lead within SAAZ, working directly with engineering, product, and leadership teams and responsible for identifying new market opportunities and capturing sales within the commercial and US Government markets.
- Own customer discovery and requirements definition with commercial partners, US government end users, and acquisition stakeholders.
- Drive MVP development aligned to validated customer needs and operational concepts. Maintain awareness of commercial and government trends and opportunities, recommend new opportunities and pivots as needed.
- Lead transition of technology from prototypes, pilots, and OT pathways into Programs of Record or commercial sales.
- Define go-to-market plans, and early pilot or proof-of-concept engagements.
- Assist in definition of pricing strategies.
- Build and maintain deep working relationships across DoD agencies, labs, and operational units.
- Develop and manage business with major defense primes, including capture strategy and teaming.
- Shape commercialization strategy across defense and dual-use markets with a strong commercial mindset.
- Support proposal shaping, customer demos, and early production ramp discussions
Ideal Background
- Demonstrated track record transitioning advanced technology into DoD programs of record and commercial industry.
- Familiarity with federal transition and acquisition pathways (e.g., OTAs, SBIR/STTR) and early-stage investment processes.
- Deep relationships within the DoD and other US Government ecosystem (operators, acquisition, labs, PEOs, or program offices).
- Experience working with or selling into major defense primes.
- Strong commercial instincts—understands product-market fit, pricing, and scaling.
- Technical fluency in imaging, sensing, EO/IR, or adjacent fields (hands-on engineering not required, but credibility is).
- Prior military experience is a strong plus but not required if the candidate has deep DoD proximity and trust.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort operating in ambiguity and early-stage environments.

- Five (5) early pilots and demonstrations converting into two (2) funded programs.
- Clear pathways from prototype → transition → production.
- Trusted relationships with DoD customers and prime partners.
- A repeatable commercialization engine embedded within SAAZ.
