Software Engineer
Build something new with a world-class team.

What this role is

You will work closely with Genesys Cloud Testing and Development resources to design, develop, and maintain features in a complex and ever-changing cloud-based environment. You will contribute to the tools, services, and processes that help the Genesys Cloud Performance group validate reliability, scalability, and quality under high load. This role reports to a Senior Manager and is part of a group focused on helping Genesys Cloud detect performance and stability risks before they reach production.

What this role isn’t

It is not just test execution or maintenance of test jobs and pipelines. This is not a pure automation role, but one focused on engineering quality through performance, scalability, and investigation. It is also not a role limited to a single service or one narrow part of the platform. You will collaborate with multiple teams and contribute to solutions that improve how performance testing is done across Genesys Cloud.

What you’ll bring to the table

You will need a solid foundation in software engineering and an interest in building reliable, scalable cloud systems. A production-first mindset is important: the goal is to help prevent issues that could affect platform stability before customers feel them. You should enjoy problem solving, learning quickly, and working through ambiguity with teammates. Attention to detail, curiosity, and strong collaboration skills will help you succeed in this role.

What’s in it for you

You will gain hands-on experience with cloud-native systems, performance engineering practices, and the tools used to validate large-scale distributed software. You will have the opportunity to deepen your engineering skills while making an immediate impact on a platform that operates at significant scale.

What you’ll do

·        Design, develop, and maintain software and test capabilities that support performance engineering for Genesys Cloud.

·        Help create and execute performance tests for new and existing platform features using team-supported tools and frameworks.

·        Work with internal teams to understand service behavior, identify critical scenarios, and improve performance test coverage.

·        Assist with instrumentation, monitoring, and alerting for cloud-native services running on AWS.

·        Investigate failures, regressions, and stability issues using logs, metrics, traces, and other observability tools.

·        Participate in code reviews and contribute high-quality, maintainable code.

·        Support ongoing improvement of performance testing services, processes, and automation.

·        Participate in test environment on-call or support rotations as needed, helping investigate issues and contribute to follow-up actions.

·        Bring a positive attitude and willingness to learn new tools, systems, and problem domains.

Who you are (Minimum requirements)

·        Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related discipline.

·        Experience in software engineering, test engineering, performance engineering, or a related technical discipline.

·        Experience with one or more programming languages such as Python, TypeScript or JavaScript, C#, or Java.

·        Foundational understanding of backend service development, APIs, and distributed systems.

·        Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform.

·        Understanding of observability concepts including metrics, traces, and logs.

·        Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred experience

·        Experience with performance or load testing tools and concepts.

·        Experience working with microservices, asynchronous messaging, and/or NoSQL data stores.

·        Experience investigating incidents or performing root cause analysis in cloud environments.

·        Experience contributing to internal engineering tools, developer productivity tooling, or test infrastructure.
