The Joint Precision Approach and Landing Systems (JPALS) group is looking for a Principal Systems Engineer to join the team within Precision Navigation.  With the full array of Precision Landing- enabling functionalities, the team is responsible for architecting, designing, and developing systems and producing products that serve the Land, Sea and Airborne domains. Some of the sub-products that make up the product line are the following: Datalinks, Airborne computing, data processing and GPS Sensor Systems.

What You Will Do 
    • Assist in performing analysis at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, modeling, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
    • Help design advanced functionality in real-time embedded software products
    • Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for lab integration of JPALS hardware and software with a focus on automation and the integration of Simulink autocode
    • Work on multiple programs simultaneously
    • Assist with managing configuration process, performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
    • Support verification and traceability of the system requirements to include:
        • Assist with decomposing customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system requirements
        • Generate verification criteria and plans for the requirements
        • Conduct automated verification of requirements
        • Support peer reviews on development artifacts across domains
        • Own the development of your design approach through collaboration with subject matter experts
        • Help drive resolution for technical issues through problem-solving and coordination across impacted teams
        • Coordinate with cross-functional team members to complete assignments & projects as defined and on schedule
    • Up to 15% travel required

Qualifications You Must Have
    • Experience using Simulink including in the Polyspace toolset
    • Experience integrating autogenerated code
    • Experience with DO-178 DAL processes and working in a certification environment

    • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience

    • Ability to perform on multiple threads in parallel

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
