The Processing, Guidance & Control (PG&C) Center is responsible for algorithm development including Guidance, Navigation, and Control; radio frequency (RF) and electro-optical/infrared (EO-IR) Signal Processing (SP); and missile-and-sensor-level Modeling and Simulation for Raytheon's broad portfolio of projects, programs, and products. In the SP Department, we design, integrate, and optimize sensor control, detection processing, tracking, and classification algorithms to meet mission objectives. We support new business initiatives and help develop & execute technology roadmaps.

The Signal Processing Department within PG&C is seeking a Principal Systems EngineerVideo Processing Team Lead for a Naval Power program.  This is an onsite position located in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do:

  • As the Video Processing Team Lead, you will be responsible for identifying, designing, and executing studies to stress and evaluate video processing capabilities that will be used to inform design refinements and development.
  • You will lead a multi-disciplinary team of 8–10 engineers across software, simulation, and algorithms
  • You will define and execute video processing algorithm performance studies to ensure integrating new capabilities does not harm existing system performance.
  • You will work with embedded software including real-time video processing algorithm development for missiles system products.
  • You will offer experience and guidance to help the program spin up, train new engineers, and execute efficiently and effectively.
  • You will support missile performance analysis including model development, system optimization, and Monte Carlo assessments.
  • You will have close interaction with the Cross Product Team Lead (CPTL) for scope definition.
  • You will interface and coordinate with program leadership (which includes Chief Engineers, Test Architects, and Cross-functional IPTLs) and Systems Engineering Functional Leadership.
  • You will function as the Product Owner role in an Agile environment, responsible for refining and grooming the signal processing product and sprint backlog.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Physics, Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience with EO/IR Signal Processing algorithm development and/or EO/IR analysis (background filtering, temporal filtering, thresholding/segmentation, tracking)
  • Experience supporting hardware activities leading to test events, such as calibration and acceptance testing for sensors and devices and ensuring that the selected hardware supports test objectives
  • Experience programming in C/C++, Python, and/or MATLAB
  • Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued Security Clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain special program access after start.
     

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience evaluating SP algorithm and/or model performance for Naval Power effectors
  • Experience leading a small development team in an Agile environment
  • Experience developing and presenting technical briefings
  • Experience supporting hardware activities leading to test events, such as calibration and acceptance testing for sensors and devices and ensuring that the selected hardware supports test objectives
  • Experience supporting software performance activities leading to flight tests such as using Integrated Flight Simulation (IFS) and Computer-in-the Loop (CIL) performance analysis to ensure compliance with performance metrics prior to software release
  • Experience supporting missile and captive flight tests, providing real-time and post-mission system performance analysis

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
