Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Blueprint & Material Take-Off Coordinator to join our team. This role is responsible for reviewing fire protection system drawings, performing material take-offs, preparing fabrication lists, and supporting project execution from the pre-construction stage through fabrication. The successful candidate will work closely with Designers, Project Managers, Estimators, Fabrication personnel, and Field Operations to ensure accurate material procurement and fabrication planning. This position plays a critical role in supporting project efficiency, reducing material waste, and ensuring fabrication packages are complete and accurate before production.


Task & Responsibilities:

  • Review fire protection blueprints and prepare material lists and fabrication list for shop
  • Coordinate work with design team and office staff
  • Create legible material lists and fabrication cut sheets
  • Assist with fabrication administration

Fabrication & Production Support

  • Prepare detailed fabrication cut sheets and spool lists for shop production.
  • Generate fabrication packages that include pipe schedules, fitting requirements, and assembly details.
  • Coordinate fabrication priorities with production personnel to meet project schedules.
  • Assist with material tracking and inventory requirements related to fabrication activities.
  • Support the preparation and maintenance of fabrication documentation.

Project Coordination

  • Collaborate with Sprinkler Designers, Estimators, Project Managers, Purchasing personnel, and Field Supervisors.
  • Communicate material requirements and fabrication schedules to internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with procurement planning by identifying long-lead materials and specialty items.
  • Support project handoff meetings and ongoing project coordination activities.
  • Participate in resolving material shortages, drawing revisions, and field-related changes.

Quality Control

  • Verify material quantities and fabrication lists for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensure take-offs and fabrication packages comply with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures.
  • Maintain organized project documentation and records.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity and reduce fabrication errors.


Qualifications

  • University degree or College Diploma in Engineering an asset.
  • Must be able to read and understand building blueprints.
  • Able to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Detail oriented
  • Able to work with metric and imperial measurements
  • General computer knowledge including MS Office
  • Good organizational skills
  • Able to work independently
  • Good interpersonal skills with staff and customers
  • Knowledge in the fire sprinkler industry & codes an asset
