JOB SUMMARY:
Provides classroom, laboratory and clinical instruction and supervision of nursing students. The faculty member serves as a professional nurse role model and as a liaison with health care agencies. Serves as an active participate in course delivery, and evaluation. Participates in faculty meetings for organizing and providing educational experience leading to student credentialing and gainful employment in nursing positions. Contributes to the recruitment and retention of students. Faculty may be assigned to teach at any IRSC campus, which change according to the needs of the program/department;
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
Supervises assigned students in clinical within the scope of practice set forth by the Florida Board of Nursing; 20 %
Instructs courses in nursing theory and skills related subjects; 20%
Actively supports student success initiatives such as mentoring, coaching, and tutoring student; 15%
Collaborates with faculty and staff of the College in program development, scheduling, marketing, recruitment and delivery of instruction; 15%
Implements the Nursing Programs, courses, and curriculum; 5%
Compiles all documents and completing other requirements of the School of Nursing, IRSC, state and national agencies; 5%
Participates in department, division, and general faculty meetings, applicable college committee activities, and other forms of college service; 5%
Designs curriculum in collaboration with department chair for nursing courses;5%
Evaluates and documents student progress through examinations and observations of performance; 5%
Serves effectively on college committees; 3%
Maintains an active program of professional development related to individual, professional, and institutional needs congruent with faculty eligibility for clinical placement; 2%
Participates in activities to maintain ACEN accreditation; 2%
Makes recommendations of budgetary, curriculum, and program management matters to the Dean of Nursing; 2%
Serves as liaison for the Division of the School of Nursing to the surrounding community; 2%
Coordinates clinical experiences with area health care agencies; 2%
Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 2%
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Minimum of two (2) years of proven experience in clinical nursing practice in an acute care setting.
Two (2) years of teaching/clinical coordination experience with proficiency in instruction, experience in academic/clinical coordination.
Instructional experience in nursing.
Current Florida license as a Registered Nurse or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
Must have current knowledge of nursing to provide patient care safely and competently within the scope of practice set forth by the Florida Board of Nursing.
Proficiency in the use of technology for classroom and clinical instruction.
Proficiency in the use of technologies including but not limited to: distance education modalities, and Microsoft Office applications.
Current/active CPR certification.
Must meet the credentialing requirements set forth in IRSC’s credentialing manual.
Weekend and evenings may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical requirements for this position include: having the physical abilities sufficient to move from room to room and maneuver in small spaces; possessing a high degree of flexibility; auditory abilities sufficient to monitor and assess health needs; visual abilities sufficient for observation and assessment necessary in nursing care; tactile abilities sufficient for physical assessment; and sufficient stamina to provide patient care and related responsibilities for extended periods of time (8-12 hours). This position also requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of fifty (50) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines such as: copier, fax, telephone, and other equipment necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
