What You Will DoÂ
Johnson Controls is seeking to fill the position Mechanical Engineering Technician, based in one of our advanced R&D facilities located in Cranston, RI.
Â
As a Mechanical Engineering Technician, you will contribute directly to R&D innovation by assembling and running test setups that verify new product designs against agency test standards. Working alongside engineers, you will help ensure that prototypes are tested safely, precisely, and reliably. We require candidates to be US Citizens and/or permanent residents of the US.  Sponsorship is not available for this role.
How You Will Do ItÂ
Build, assemble, and modify test setups, fixtures, and prototypes.
Perform light carpentry, plumbing, and basic fabrication to support test setup construction.
Interpret engineering drawings, agency test standards, and work request criteria to ensure accurate setup and configuration.
Operate equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and hoists.
Collect, record, and organize test data with strong attention to detail.
Establish and sustain effective working relationships across a variety of teams.
What We Look ForÂ
RequiredÂ
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology, or equivalent practical experience.
Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, fabrication, or test setup construction.
Experience with hand tools, power tools, and basic shop equipment.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, test standards, and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures, etc.).
High attention to detail and ability to follow structured test procedures.
US Citizen and/or permanent resident.
Preferred
Experience working with hydraulic test loops, including pumps, valves, and flow control systems.
Forklift and scissor lift experience.
Experience within the fire protection industry.Â
COMPENSATION RANGE: $26/hr - $38/hr (Compensation to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted range reflects the target compensation for this role.
