We are looking for a Senior Buyer.

What you will do

As a part of JCI’s Indirect Procurement organization, you will function as a procurement business partner, interfacing directly with one or more business units to ensure category strategies, programs, and corporate initiatives are effectively and efficiently deployed.

You will play a critical role supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, enabling Engineering teams through timely sourcing, supplier engagement, and contract execution to ensure successful product development and launch.

You will lead sourcing initiatives, manage supplier relationships, and drive cost savings and trade working capital improvements across manufacturing plants, distribution centers, and corporate offices, with a strong focus on supporting day-to-day business operations and enabling growth across expanding business units.

This role is responsible for evaluating sources of supply, leading sourcing events, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the acquisition of goods and services at the optimal balance of cost, quality, service, and speed, while maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures.

How you will do it:

  • Be a true business partner for Engineering and assigned business unit(s), understanding product development priorities, timelines, and stakeholder expectations, and translating these into procurement strategies that support NPI execution and long-term business growth.
  • Act as a spokesperson for the Indirect Procurement organization, clearly articulating how procurement drives value by supporting business continuity, improving service levels, and enabling scalable solutions for growing operations.
  • Execute end-to-end sourcing activities in support of Engineering programs, including RFx development, supplier selection, cost analysis, negotiations, and contract execution, ensuring alignment with NPI timelines and fast-paced development cycles.
  • Provide strong operational support to Engineering teams, ensuring timely availability of critical services and suppliers, resolving issues quickly, and maintaining continuity to avoid impacting product development and launch schedules.
  • Lead sourcing and management of Engineering Services categories (e.g., design services, testing, prototyping, technical consulting), ensuring suppliers meet technical, quality, and delivery expectations.
  • Conduct spend and market analysis to identify cost savings opportunities, supplier consolidation opportunities, and scalable solutions that support both efficiency and growth initiatives.
  • Lead contract negotiation and management activities, ensuring agreements are competitive, compliant, and flexible enough to support changing business needs and expansion requirements.
  • Drive supplier performance management, including scorecards, evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure suppliers consistently meet quality, delivery, and service expectations in support of operations.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve trade working capital, including payment term optimization and supplier financing program participation.
  • Own procurement performance tracking and reporting, ensuring accurate visibility of cost savings, PPV, and supplier performance metrics while supporting financial alignment with the business.
  • Act as a change agent, driving process improvements, simplification initiatives, and adoption of procurement best practices to improve efficiency, user experience, and scalability across growing business units.
  • Ensure compliance with procure-to-pay processes, systems (e.g., SAP), and governance requirements, while actively supporting stakeholders and resolving transactional issues to maintain seamless operations.

What we look for? Position Requirement
