Job Description:

The Education Manager leads the end-to-end capability strategy and execution for the Ethicon portfolio (Endomech, Energy, Wound Closure, and Biosurgery).

This role is accountable for building a high-performing commercial and clinical capability engine—driving adoption of structured selling (e.g., Challenger), advancing procedural expertise, and ensuring that all internal and external education programs are compliant, audit-ready, and directly linked to business growth outcomes.

At this level, the role transitions from program execution to strategic ownership of capability as a growth lever, with clear accountability for measurable commercial impact.

Scope & Accountability:

National scope across all Ethicon franchises Covers internal (sales, marketing) and external (HCPs, KOLs, TPI reps) education Direct ownership of training strategy, execution, and performance outcomes Strong cross-functional leadership (Sales, Marketing, Medical, HCC, Regulatory, Finance)

Key Responsibilities:

1) Capability Strategy (Ethicon Portfolio)

  • Define and lead the annual education strategy aligned to franchise priorities (Endomech, Energy, WC, Biosurgery)
  • Translate business goals (share gain, conversion, drive adoption, tech pen, NPI launches) into targeted capability plans
  • Localize global/regional frameworks into market-relevant, executable programs

2) Commercial Excellence & Challenger Adoption

  • Institutionalize Challenger selling and procedural selling frameworks across the field force Partner with Sales Leaders to drive behavioral change and coaching capability
  • Define and track capability KPIs linked to:
    • Case conversion
    • Premium product adoption
    • Procedure pull-through

3) Clinical & HCP Education Leadership

  • Design and oversee high-impact HCP education programs: Workshops, proctorships, cadaver labs, congress engagements
  • Partner with Medical Affairs and KOLs to ensure clinical credibility and scientific rigor
  • Support new technology adoption (e.g., advanced energy devices, advanced biosurgery, SFX, stapling platforms, Dualto systems)

4) Product & Procedural Expertise Development

  • Ensure deep competency across: Endomech , Energy, Wound Closure & Biosurgery
  • Drive procedure-based selling capability vs. product-only selling

5) Program Execution & Governance

  • Own end-to-end program delivery (planning → execution → post-evaluation)
  • Ensure full compliance with HCC, grants, and documentation standards
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and traceability for all education activities

6) Content & Learning Ecosystem Lead development of scalable learning tools:

  • Certification programs Digital modules and LMS-based training
  • Procedure-focused learning journeys
  • Ensure content is clinically accurate, compliant, and differentiated

7) Performance Management & Analytics

  • Define and track training effectiveness KPIs:
  • Certification rates
  • Competency improvement
  • Program ROI and business linkage
  • Provide structured updates (dashboards/BOWLER) to leadership
  • Drive continuous improvement using data and field feedback

8) Stakeholder & Faculty Management Manage relationships with:

  • Internal leaders (Sales, Marketing, Medical, Finance)
  • External faculty (KOLs, surgeons, training institutions)
  • Align closely with regional education teams for best practice sharing

9) Strategic Ownership

  • Owns capability strategy tied to business outcomes—not just training delivery
  • Anticipates future capability needs (e.g., capital equipment, GTM shifts)

10) Business Impact Accountability

  • Direct linkage of training programs to:
  • Revenue growth
  • Market share expansion
  • Adoption of priority products

11) Leadership Influence

  • Influences Sales and Marketing leaders on capability priorities
  • Acts as thought partner to Commercial Lead on capability-driven growth

12) Governance & Compliance Leadership

  • Sets the standard for audit readiness and policy compliance
  • Ensures no exposure on HCC, grants, or education spend

13) Success Metrics

  • Increase in procedure-based selling effectiveness
  • Acceleration of E3000, Energy, and Biosurgery adoption
  • Field force certification and competency uplift
  • HCP engagement quality and repeat participation
  • Compliance audit outcomes (zero major findings)
  • Measurable linkage between training and NTS growth / conversion lift

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Nursing, or Business
  • 6–10 years experience in MedTech / healthcare (Sales, Marketing, or Education)
  • Strong exposure to surgical environments and procedures
  • Proven experience in training strategy, facilitation, and capability building
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • High level of compliance and governance understanding
