In this role you will provide legal sparring/advice and coordinate legal work in relation to our exciting global direct-to-consumer retail ecommerce area!

Core Responsibilities

  • Providing legal advice/counsel globally to the business owners and stakeholders in the direct-to-consumer retail ecommerce business area in matters related to consumer protection, marketing, loyalty programs, privacy, digital and related legal areas.

  • Supporting colleagues and business stakeholders in a wide variety of different business and regulatory cases and issues of medium to high complexity as well as occasionally training colleagues and stakeholders in own legal expertise areas.

  • Assessing and managing legal risks in relevant cases and projects independently with a view to consumer protection, intellectual property rights and their regulatory environment. Continuously improving legal processes and standard form agreements in the relevant responsibility area.

  • When relevant, structuring, drafting, negotiating and/or approving commercial contracts and procurement contracts, letters of agreement, policies and other documents within digital and general commercial legal areas

  • Working independently, as a recognised subject matter expert and being able to coach others, for tasks that are independently identified and defined.

  • Experience and interest in digital technology, ICT procurement and other areas covered by our team, such as online brand protection is considered an advantage.

This Senior Corporate Counsel role sits within the Legal, Compliance and Risk Management department and its Digital, eCommerce and Marketplaces (DEM) legal team supporting our global direct-to-consumer online retail business, our digital organisation and conducting our IP enforcement online. This role is specifically focused on legal issues relating to direct-to-consumer business. The role will work very closely with other colleagues in the team but will also have interactions and opportunities to work together with the broader LCR team as well as various business colleagues. The role holder will be expected to be a great teammate and to add the best value in legal support to our relevant business collaborators.

The role will require a high level of interest and curiosity of working in privacy, marketing, and consumer law matters, digital space, evolving technology and business needs, IT procurement with a global perspective. The ability to make quick decisions and quick assessments will be key. This also means that it is vital to have strong partnering skills as the role will be interacting with the business teams directly in the LEGO Group.

Do you have, what it takes?

  • Law school/university degree in law (LL.M or a corresponding degree)

  • Qualification as an Attorney-At-Law (bar exam) (if applicable/required in your location)

  • 5-8 years of post-graduate international legal experience from inhouse or private practice within relevant legal fields

  • Significant experience and preferably specialisation within, and proven experience working with legal issues in consumer protection, privacy, e-privacy and the ecommerce business.

  • Experience within the ICT space, emerging technologies and digitalisation would be considered an advantage.

  • Ability and interest in being able to give relevant and timely advice within a fast-moving business environment.

  • Proven track record on strong business partnering and collaborator management skills, pro-activeness, ability to effectively spot issues on a wide range of topics and build results/impact to the business as well as a curiosity about understanding the overall LEGO Group business.

  • Good general understanding of commercial laws, intellectual property laws, competition law and commercial contracts.

  • Legal curiosity as well as appetite and ability to learn new skills quickly as well as the willingness to follow through on tasks to completion.
