The Brooklyn Center facility also known as Medtronic Electronics Components Center (MECC) supports the production of components used in devices for a variety of Medtronic Operating Units (OUs). The Senior Quality Engineer serves as the Quality decision‑making partner on cross‑functional development and sustaining engineering teams at the MECC site. This role leads risk‑based quality planning across design, manufacturing, and supplier interfaces, providing strategic quality guidance throughout the product lifecycle.

The Senior Quality Engineer is accountable for ensuring quality readiness prior to MECC Decision Points (MDPs) and market release, proactively identifying and mitigating risks to ensure compliance and product integrity. It will require a strong working knowledge of QMS requirements, advanced risk management methodologies, and the ability to influence across functions through clear, effective communication. A high level of attention to detail, sound judgment, and continuous improvement mindset are essential.

In this role you will be working on a team that handles a combination of projects for New Product Introductions (NPI) as well as Capacity Expansion and Sustaining / Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Projects supporting Global Supply Chain and Operations.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop, modify, apply and maintain quality standards and protocol for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.

  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.

  • Devise and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.

  • Design or specify inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment; conduct quality assurance tests; and perform statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.

  • Ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.

  • May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or technical field with 4+ years of work experience in Engineering and/or Quality OR Advanced Degree in Engineering, Science or technical field with 2+ years of work experience in Engineering and/or Quality OR PhD with 0 year of experience.

Nice to Have

  • CAPA (Corrective Action / Preventive Action) experience

  • Familiarity with Minitab Statistical Software

  • Lean Six Sigma training, DRM Training

  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Validation Experience (IQ, OQ, TMV, PQ)

  • Experience with Active Implantables: Batteries and/or Components

  • High level of attention to detail and well organized to manage multiple projects at time

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$98,400.00 - $147,600.00

 

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
