Job Description

The person selected for this position will plan, implement, and supervise all classroom activities to promote the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, physical and language development of each child and assess the progress of the child in each domain. The person in this position will supervise and mentor student staff as well as students participating in laboratory experiences through university classes. The person in this position will participate in staff meetings and parent activities and work as a part of the center leadership team assisting the director in ensuring the coordination of all program activities. This person will maintain licensing, accreditation, and continuing education requirements. Attend staff development activities and attend planned evening sessions for staff, children and families.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood. Special Education, Child Development and Family Studies, or related field.

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a formal preschool setting.

  • Experience with the supervision of employees.

  • Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of start date.

Preferred Qualification 

  • Current Minnesota License in Early Childhood (Pre-kindergarten) or Birth to grade 3 or Early Childhood Special Education License.

  • Experience working in a university lab school setting.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of child development for children birth to 5 years of age.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current child assessment practices.

  • Experience with planning and implementing curriculum that meets the various needs of the group of children.

  • Demonstrated experience with the development of appropriate behavior guidance techniques.

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

This position requires a passing background check with the Department of Human Services.
