Background:Â
The Montefiore Einstein Department of Anesthesiology is in search of a full-time, board-certified anesthesiologist to join their leadership team as Division Director of Cardiac Anesthesiology. The Division of Cardiac Anesthesiology works alongside a dedicated surgical service to enhance the care of patients requiring complex cardiac procedures. As part of the Montefiore Einstein Center for Heart and Vascular Care, the service includes valve repairs, valve replacements, heart transplants, and a range of advanced procedures performed in the cardiac catheterization lab. Our cardiac anesthesiologists are consultants in the operating room, conducting intraoperative transesophageal echocardiograms, collaborating with the surgical team, and creating a customized treatment plan for each patient throughout the perioperative period. The Division of Cardiac Anesthesiology is committed to advancing the specialty through innovative academic research and is involved in multiple clinical trials and other studies aimed at improving patient safety and outcomes for patients with cardiac diseases.Â

Position Summary:Â
The successful candidate will be an innovative and collaborative leader whose clinical practice aligns with the goals of the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery team and provides strong foundational support from the Department of Anesthesiology. The Cardiac Anesthesiology Division Director will innovate plans for clinical and academic growth, while providing oversight of anesthesia services for cardiac procedures across a growing health system. This opportunity allows the individual to develop a collaborative management style, lead a team of cardiac anesthesiologists with advanced training, and educate the next generation of leaders in the subspecialty.Â

Responsibilities:Â
•   Manage the day-to-day clinical operations of Cardiac Anesthesia services across multiple hospitals within Montefiore Medical CenterÂ
•   Ensure the highest level of expertise within the Division of Cardiac Anesthesiology by maintenance of current standards of care through continuing medical educationÂ
•   Interface with Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery leadership to continue efficient surgical workflowÂ
•   Maintain and continue to improve the evidence-based ERAS protocol for patients undergoing cardiac proceduresÂ
•   Train and supervise CRNAs, residents, and fellowsÂ
•   Participate in team science to support professional and clinical advancement of faculty within the division Â
•   Collaborate with leadership in Anesthesia Technical Support to evaluate and maintain equipment and supplies needed for the Cardiac Anesthesia serviceÂ
•   Educate other faculty and divisions within the department about advancements in Cardiac AnesthesiologyÂ
•   Create a hiring and onboarding process for new facultyÂ
•   Support and conduct collaborative research in advancement of Cardiac Anesthesia practices to improve patient safety and outcomesÂ
•   Support the department’s goals for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practicesÂ

Qualifications:Â
•   MD, DO or foreign equivalent Â
•   Board Certified in Anesthesiology Â
•   Eligible for New York State Medical License Â
•   Demonstration of leadership abilities and excellent communication skillsÂ
•   Reputable ethical standards, strong interpersonal skills, and a member in good standing of their current medical staffÂ
•   Embody exceptional professionalism and conduct their work in alignment with a commitment to Diversity, Equity and InclusionÂ

Compensation and Benefits:Â
In addition to a competitive salary of $465,000-560,000 plus productivity incentives, Montefiore Health System offers excellent pay, an equitable schedule, and great benefits.
