Job Description:

     Under the supervision of the Associate Director of International Admission, the Senior Assistant Director of International Admission is responsible for execution of key aspects of the College’s international recruitment strategy. The incumbent will represent the College in international recruitment efforts, both in the United States and overseas, including six to ten weeks per of travel as part of their regional admission recruitment territory management and relationship building. Application reading and selection, as well as data analysis are also key responsibilities.
The Senior Assistant Director is a key member of the Office of Admission, charged with attracting ambitious and
independent-minded students to Mount Holyoke’s inclusive and socially conscious community of 2,200 students. The
successful candidate must thrive and be adaptive in a fast-paced environment in which responsibilities may shift and
evolve in response to changing institutional priorities and external market forces. A spirit of collaboration within the
department, possibly supporting domestic admission initiatives, and with key stakeholders across campus is essential.

Travel & Recruitment

  • Travel approximately 6-10 weeks per year (fall and spring), sometimes in collaboration with other colleges, visiting high schools overseas and delivering key messages about the College in public presentations to diverse audiences; discerning the most appropriate style of communication to effectively deliver messages to each unique audience population; creating electronic visuals to accompany the presentation.
  • Plan recruitment trips in assigned travel territory (including liaison work with schools, counselors, and other educational stakeholders, in addition to prospective students and families).
  • Implement strategic admission initiatives relating to international recruitment and travel.
  • Represent the College internationally, at high schools and other recruitment venues. Staff college fairs, meet individually with students, deliver group information sessions, and represent the college at off-campus events.
  • Create videos, as needed, to explain aspects of Mount Holyoke’s admission process and as required for virtual recruitment activities.

Reading & Evaluation

  • Partner with the Associate Director of International Admission to monitor staff reading progress, develop communication about incomplete applications and train domestic staff to understand English proficiency expectations and required financial qualifications.
  • Read and evaluate applications from assigned territories.
  • Guide and support applicants within assigned territories, including individualized outreach.
  • Consult with colleagues in Mount Holyoke's Office of Student Financial Services (SFS) in the event of need-sensitive admission decisions.

Reporting & Analytics

Assess effectiveness of annual recruitment travel by using data analytics platforms and information

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree; 5+ years in international admission or related experience.

  • Knowledge of global education systems, English proficiency tests, and CRM platforms (Slate preferred).

  • Strong communication, public speaking, and presentation skills.

  • Experience with international recruitment travel and student engagement.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams in a dynamic environment.

  • Preferred: multilingual, experience managing student or alum programs, familiarity with women’s college mission.

Hiring range:  $54,425 - $61,229
