About this role

Position Summary:

The Construction Controls and Warranty Technician is responsible for commissioning, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, and performing other related duties. This individual must be able to identify, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of HVAC issues on various system types.


Required Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of experience in HVAC service and installation.
  • Thorough understanding of most HVAC equipment and its major components.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong ability to read and understand technical instructions and follow blueprints.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Strong knowledge of equipment, tools, and methods commonly applied in repairing air conditioning and heating equipment in commercial buildings.
  • Strong knowledge of principles of operation of air conditioning and heating systems, and safety practices concerning HVAC work.
  • Strong ability to diagnose equipment and determine if repair and maintenance work is needed or not; and ability to keep records of work done, etc.
  • Excellent ability to explain technical information to clients in a way they will understand.
  • Strong ability to perform assigned tasks independently.
  • Strong knowledge of computers and the ability to apply the necessary software tools for HVAC duties.
  • Knowledge and training with Pelican, VRF, and VFD control systems.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out mechanical and electrical inspection and maintenance on equipment to bring them to optimal performance.
  • Perform assessment, repair including replacement of components to properly commission or repair equipment.
  • Determine equipment commissioning or repair needs by applying technical skills and experience, including system operations and preventive maintenance experience.
  • Serve as a company representative to other contractors, owners, and trades.
  • Complete and submit necessary start-up and repair documentation and communicate findings to vendors, customers, and necessary Solace team members.
  • Perform other functions that may be assigned by the service coordinator or manager.
  • Consistently and clearly communicate all findings, status of repairs, and any other needs regarding properties and equipment to Customer and Solace Enterprise Office in a timely manner.
  • Complete start-up reports, daily reports, and work orders accurately and on time.

  • Employees must occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing 50-100lbs. 
  • Use of vision abilities include, close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to weather conditions at that time. 
  • May be required to be in confined spaces for short periods of time.
