Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled and detailed CNC Setup Technician to join our growing 2nd shift team in North Billerica, MA. In this role, you will set up and operate CNC Vertical and Horizontal Mills to perform machining functions on very close-tolerance machined parts. The ideal candidate will prove out programs, install tooling, and ensure our production runs meet strict quality and engineering specifications.
Compensation & Schedule
- Base Compensation Range: $22.00 - $36.00 / hour (Depending on experience)
- 2nd Shift Premium: Includes an additional 10% shift differential
- Total Hourly Earning Potential: $24.20 - $39.60 / hour
- Schedule: Second Shift | 4:30 PM – 3:00 AM | Monday to Thursday

Job Functions
- Prepare, pre-set, and inspect all tools required for upcoming machining operations.
- Prep, position, and securely clamp workpieces in holding devices, machine tables, chucks, centers, or specialized fixtures.
- Set up intricate fixtures, install precision tooling, load programs, enter initial offsets, and safely prove out new or existing machine programs.
- Inspect first-run pieces, adjust offsets as required to achieve precise tolerances, and conduct ongoing spot checks to ensure continuous compliance with specifications (including accurate documentation of results).
- Recommend and help implement workflow or tooling improvements to optimize the existing manufacturing process.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and highly organized work environment utilizing 5-S workplace controls (willingness to learn 5-S principles is required).
- Adhere strictly to all safety rules, utilizing appropriate safety systems/processes to ensure full compliance with OSHA and other state/federal regulations.
- Perform other associated duties as needed to support productive, high-quality plant operations.
Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Aptitude: Strong working knowledge of G and M codes, 3-axis and 4-axis machining centers, and GD&T blueprint reading.
- Quality Focus: Monitors work to meet strict quality criteria, demonstrating a high level of care, manual dexterity, and thoroughness. Able to independently inspect complex parts using various precision measuring tools.
- Autonomy: Highly motivated with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision on the floor.
- Dependability: Demonstrates a high level of punctuality, reliability, and accountability in all aspects of the position.
- Communication: Good interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with operators, engineering, and leadership.
- Tools: Must possess a personally owned set of standard machine trade tools.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to regularly stand and perform repetitive setup and machining operations for 10-hour shifts.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a designated workstation on the production floor as needed.
- Frequently moves production parts and tooling materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
