The OMM Chair/ OMM Open Rank Faculty is responsible for facilitating and developing the OMM curriculum and academic delivery.

The OMM Department Chair works with the Campus Dean as well as the OMM Department of the Philadelphia Campus in coordination and oversight of the college wide curriculum.  The Chair is responsible for leading the department, supporting faculty and students, and managing the day-to-day operations of the department.

The OMM Open Rank Faculty member is expected to teach first and second-year DO students. Additional responsibilities include third and fourth-year OMM sessions, training sessions in OMM for local primary care residents, clinical service in the OMM center with patients, teaching in the OMM center, and mentoring OMM scholars. Year 1 and 2 OMM didactic and lab/hands-on sessions are the primary responsibility, though integration with the PCS/medical skills department will be required.

ESSENTIAL SUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

The successful incumbent will perform the following duties, with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Schedules and manages full-time and adjunct teaching assignments, course enrollment numbers, and classroom assignments in Blackboard, in consultation with the Dean 
  • Plans, directs, recommends and approves the implementation and use of classroom and online technology
  • Assists the Dean with ensuring all faculty submit grades by published deadlines.  Transmits, after consultation with the Dean, important curriculum proposals/changes and administrative decisions to faculty 
  • Ensures faculty staffing of all content delivery including lectures, labs and practical exams.
  • Assists the Dean in determining departmental needs, including but not limited to the analysis and assessment of laboratory and course fees, and other budget related items as applicable 
  • Establishes, in concert with the Dean and faculty, department plans for curriculum and course development and implementation
  • Assists the Dean with recruitment and hiring of adjunct and full-time faculty.  Assists with orientation of incoming faculty.
  • Determines course transfer equivalencies for transcript evaluation and course articulations 
  • Assist Dean with development and implementation of an OMM Clinic.  Including planning for patient flow, facilities and faculty staffing. 
  • Coordinates the OMM Scholars program and the Teaching Assistant Program.
  • Coordinates outreach to local Residency programs for the coordination of both undergraduate and graduate medical education programs relative to OMM.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • DO degree required with Board Certification/Eligible in OMM/ONMM.

Experience

  • Prior instructional experience in OMM or in a similar role, preferably in a Course Director position.

  • High level of computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, presentations, email, and virtual meeting applications, preferably on the Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 platforms.

Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience, education, and the responsibilities of the role.

The referenced salary range is based on PCOM good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
