What You'll Do and Who We Are Looking For

Job Description:
Under the general supervision of the Transportation and Parking Supervisor, the Parking Enforcement Officer enforces PCC parking rules and regulations through the issuance of parking citations. Interacts with students, staff, and the public regarding general parking matters. Keeps Transportation and Parking Supervisor informed of necessary maintenance related to signs, lights, overgrown brush, and parking hazards. Reports issues with parking enforcement equipment such as parking machines and signs and performs related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience: Must be 18 years old or older with a high school diploma or equivalent and six months of high-volume public-facing customer service experience.
License/Certificate: Must possess and maintain a valid class C driver’s license and have a good driving record. Must be able to complete the PCC driver safety course.


Responsibilities:

  • Enforces parking policies, rules, and regulations outdoors.
  • Issues citations for parking violations.
  • Immobilizes vehicles in accordance with department policy and supervisory direction.
  • Documents and reports any observed parking lot safety hazards or areas in need of repair.
  • Informs students, staff, and the public about parking rules and regulations. Directs policy or appeal questions to the supervisor or office staff.

  • Interpret, apply, explain, and enforce parking rules and regulations to staff, students, and members of the public.
  • Exercise sound judgment within established guidelines and supervisory direction.
  • Respond tactfully, clearly, concisely, and appropriately to inquiries related to area of responsibility.
  • Perform the required duties in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Effectively operate Android smartphones and desktop computers.
  • Lift, carry, and guide up to 30 pounds safely.
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision.

Knowledge of:

  • Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers.
  • Customer service techniques, practices, and principles.
  • English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Basic proficiency using Android phones.

Environment:
Must be willing to work evenings, weekend shifts, and as needed on an emergency basis. Must be willing to work out of doors in all weather conditions.

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in the outdoors; to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to operate equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of an Android phone; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
