Job Description
Pune/Noida, India
As a Project Engineer – Hardware, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality hardware design solutions for industrial automation projects. You will work closely with the Team Lead / Lead Engineer to execute project deliverables, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, engineering standards, and customer requirements. Your role will span the complete project lifecycle—from system design to commissioning—while driving cost efficiency, standardization, and customer satisfaction. You will report to the Manager – Execution / Team Lead.
Your Responsibilities:
Hardware Design & Engineering: Design and develop control systems, including panel layouts, control circuits, MCC systems, and enclosure designs etc.. Define system specifications, I/O architecture, and ensure hardware-software compatibility.
Project Execution & Delivery: Execute assigned work packages and projects on time with high quality and cost effectiveness, ensuring alignment with customer expectations and technical requirements.
Technical Analysis & Problem Solving: Analyze existing systems, identify design gaps or deficiencies, and implement corrective actions to ensure robust system performance.
Standards & Compliance: Ensure all deliverables adhere to engineering standards (IEC/RA) and promote maximum reuse of standard products and engineering practices.
System Integration & Coordination: Coordinate with cross-functional teams for subsystem design and ensure seamless integration into the overall system architecture.
Risk & Issue Management: Collaborate with Team Leaders to identify, mitigate, and resolve technical risks and issues during project execution.
Continuous Improvement & Cost Optimization: Drive engineering efficiency through process improvements, reusable designs, and optimization of hardware solutions.
Customer Focus & Acceptance: Work closely with internal stakeholders and customers to ensure successful project implementation and achieve customer acceptance.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Instrumentation / Electronics / Control Engineering
- 2–5 years of experience in industrial automation hardware design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (preferably AutoCAD Electrical) or ePlan
- Working knowledge of DOL, Star-Delta starters, VFDs, Soft Starters, PLCs, and MCC system design
- Experience in design calculations (heat load, cable sizing, etc.)
- Strong understanding of enclosure design (GA/Layout)
- Knowledge of IEC and relevant electrical design standards
- Experience across full project lifecycle (design to commissioning)
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
- Experience with Rockwell Automation (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PLC-5) or Siemens/Schneider platforms
- Expertise in Integrated Architecture, drives, motor control, and safety systems
- Knowledge of industrial networks and control system architectures
- Ability to develop control circuits based on process requirements
- Exposure to Lean Six Sigma, basic project management, and EHS practices
- Strong application and industry domain knowledge
- Capability to mentor junior engineers and share best practices
