Job Description:
The VDC Engineer | Reality Capture supports the planning, coordination, and execution of reality capture work across projects. This role helps turn field conditions into clear and usable data that supports safety, coordination, progress tracking, and quality. This is not a traditional project management role. This position supports field execution, financial tracking, vendor coordination, and internal program development. You will work closely with the Reality Capture Manager, project teams, and VDC to ensure work is delivered on time, within budget, and at a high level of quality.
This role requires someone who is organized, adaptable, and comfortable working across multiple areas of the business.
To be successful in this role, you must have experience working with clear, high-quality data to support projects, delivering work on time and within budget, effectively managing vendors and equipment, and enabling teams to seamlessly incorporate reality capture into their daily workflows.
Some things you can expect to do:
Support the growth and adoption of Reality Capture across projectsÂ
Identify opportunities to improve workflows and project outcomesÂ
Stay up to date on tools, processes, and industry trendsÂ
Coordinate reality capture services for projects, including scope, schedule, and deliverablesÂ
Support day-to-day execution of capture workflows in partnership with the Reality Capture ManagerÂ
Review deliverables to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with project needsÂ
Support project teams in using captured data for coordination and decision makingÂ
Ensure proper field conditions are in place to successfully execute reality captureÂ
Follow and help improve standard workflows and processesÂ
Support client-facing work by ensuring deliverables are clear, accurate, and usefulÂ
Serve as a resource for teams and stakeholders using reality capture dataÂ
Develop quotes for reality capture services for internal and external clientsÂ
Track budgets, costs, and usage for reality capture workÂ
Support invoicing and financial reportingÂ
Coordinate with third-party vendors, including scheduling, scope, and deliverablesÂ
Help maintain a network of trusted vendorsÂ
Track and manage reality capture equipment and inventoryÂ
Ensure tools are ready, maintained, and properly usedÂ
Support internal systems such as the Reality Capture SharePoint siteÂ
Help organize documentation, workflows, and training materialsÂ
Train and support teams on reality capture tools and workflowsÂ
Create simple guides and best practicesÂ
Help teams build confidence using capture tools in the fieldÂ
Working knowledge of reality capture tools and workflowsÂ
Experience with Reality Capture software such as ReCap, NavVis IVION, Trimble Field Link, DroneDeploy, OpenSpace or similarÂ
Understanding of laser scanning, drones, 360Â capture, and robotics
Familiar with construction drawings and coordination processesÂ
Ability to organize and manage digital dataÂ
