About this role

We’re looking for an Account Manager to join our UK team! 


Temper is utilised by hundreds of SME businesses across the entirety of the UK to find flexible staff and manage their ever changing needs.You will be responsible for managing and growing your own portfolio across our broad base of Hospitality and Retail businesses. You’ll not only be responsible for ensuring they have the best possible experience using Temper but for maximising their usage too - we‘re looking for an account manager who knows how to grow accounts, not just keep them happy. 


You don’t need to have a purely account management background to be considered for this role; attitude and work ethic come first and we’re primarily looking for someone who is excited by our work, has a great attitude, is highly organised and knows how to prioritise. You’ll have a large portfolio to manage and we want you to decide what that looks like, requiring ingenuity, organisation and prioritization. You might have a background in operations, sales or account management - we’re open to anything as long as you understand our goals and mindset. 


You’ll be actively onboarding new clients in collaboration with our business development team, as well as continuously nurturing and hunting for growth opportunities within your portfolio - in short, you’re both a hunter and a farmer. We expect you to take responsibility for discovering your own opportunities and growing your own portfolio full of possibilities. This is a role for someone who wants to be an integral part of a growing business, and someone who thrives on driving their portfolio’s success. 


In short? We’re looking for someone with hyper-strong organisational skills who builds genuine, trusting relationships with their clients whilst also challenging them to grow with Temper. 


What you’ll do on a day to day:

  • Manage your portfolio and expand your client base: this means building a strong professional relationship with your clients and staying informed about market developments so you can capitalize on opportunities and challenges.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to take your portfolio to the next level - what can you see that your clients can’t? Where can you find growth?
  • Understand the needs of the customer: positioning yourself as a staffing and workforce expert, you can identify and prioritize customer needs. You know how to steer the conversation with the customer in the right direction to lead to a successful outcome. 
  • Coordinate with our Marketplace Success Team to ensure Temper is meeting your clients needs, including planning for longer term projects. You’ll always be looking ahead.


This role is perfect for you if you...

  • Have 1-4  years of relevant commercial experience in account management, operations or sales.
  • Have experience managing a long-tail or large portfolio of SMEs - ideally in a Marketplace environment
  • Are organised with self discipline 
  • Speak fluent  English.
  • Are comfortable being uncomfortable; challenging conversations are part of what we do
  • Have a commercial mindset - growth is key
  • Have a ‘phone first’ attitude -  all the good conversations happen over the phone/in person - not emails!
  • Are data-driven and innovative - comfortable using Looker is a plus!
  • Are based in or near to London, and happy to travel further afield- you’ll be expected to be sitting down with your clients regularly, face to face
  • Experience or knowledge of software such as Asana and Salesforce is a plus.

You’ll join our UK Account Management team, working closely with the Head of Account Management to drive Temper’s UK growth. This role is hybrid, with two days in the office each week. The rest of the time, you can work wherever you wish.
