STRS Ohio is seeking an Investment Accountant I or II to join the Finance/Finance Investments team.

Compensation (Grades 9N and 10):

Grade 9N - $32.67 - $39.21/ hr.

Grade 10 - $76,458 - $91,749

Work Schedule:

8:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday (Onsite)

General Summary (Grades 9N and 10):

Under the direction of the manager, Investment Accounting and Performance, process cash settlements related to trading and other investment-related activity from the investment accounting system against custodian records, ensuring any discrepancies are documented, researched and resolved within reasonable time frames.

Summary of Responsibilities (Grades 9N and 10):

  • Perform daily domestic and global cash and bank reconciliations; monitor and resolve discrepancies, non-matches, and reconciling items.

  • Process and apply all cash transactions, including ACH, wires, lockboxes, income, payments, transfers, claims, and tax reclaim receipts.

  • Identify, track, and code investment-related transactions from bank activity and communications; reconcile expected and posted transactions.

  • Support month-end close activities, reconciliations, reporting validation, and variance analysis.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve transactions, ensure accurate accounting treatment, and support cash identification.

  • Assist with departmental projects, special requests, and process improvements. (Grade 9N)

  • Maintain internal controls, follow procedures, support audit requests, and contribute to documentation, process improvements, and special projects. (Grade 10)

Summary of Qualifications (Grades 9N and 10):

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Associates degree or two years’ of relevant college coursework preferred. (Grade 9N)

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required. (Grade 10)

  • One to three years’ related experience preferred; investment-related accounting experience and knowledge of diverse types of investments preferred. (Grade 9N)

  • Three to five years' related experience required; investment-related accounting experience and knowledge of diverse types of investments preferred. (Grade 10)

  • Ability to recognize research and resolve discrepancies in accounting records required.

  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to recognize research and resolve discrepancies in accounting records required. (Grade 10)

  • Proficiency with spreadsheet applications required. (Grade 9N)

  • Comprehensive knowledge with spreadsheet applications required. (Grade 10)

  • Excellent organizational skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail required.

  • Proven ability to operate Microsoft Office programs and standard office equipment required.
